We head out for OKW in 20 days. DS15 and I are the park goers and have seen alot of attractions but are looking for the more obscure out of the way things that people have done.
Still have to see American Adventure,The three shows at MGM(Beauty,Hunchback,Little Mermaid).Going to AK for the first time so any advice to this park would be appreciated.

Any Suggestions??

There is so much to see and do at AK; we haven't been since 3/99, and a lot of new things have been completed since then. Definitely go on the safari early in the morning - the animals are the most active then. I shot a whole roll of film (36 exp) just on the safari! So glad we have a digital camera now! It's a bumpy ride, but it's beautiful to see the animals "out in the wild" instead of in cages.........

And don't forget the Lion King show there, it is wonderful. Or perhaps the river ride, but save that for when it is warm out and you don't care if you get soaked.....lol.

Faith, trust, and pixie dust to you!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the Hunchback show in MGM no longer is playing. You will love Animal Kingdom. Try to catch the flights of Wonder show...it seems to be an overlooked attraction that people really enjoy once they catch it.

One of my favorite overlooked areas is the sound play area at the exit for Sounds Dangerous in the Studios. 3-D sound booths featuring Mickey, playing Foley artist, subbing in your voice for the movie stars--lots of fun.

At AK there are similar 3-D sound booths with rainforest sounds at Rafiki's Conservation Station. Conservation Station is an overlooked attraction in itself---eats up some time due to the train ride there and back, but, in addition to the sound booths, you can watch vetrinary procedures, see animal demonstrations, or go in the petting zoo.

I agree with Flights of Wonder in AK--definitely exceeded our expectations. Also, find some time to wander in the Oasis at the front of the park, and in the path between the Tree of Life and the lagoon.

I think the least noticed, most attended attraction is Honey, I Shrunk the Bank Account. :jester:

Seriously, this is going to sound weird from an adult, but the playground in Dinoland, USA is lots of fun. We also enjoy the animal trails in both Africa and Asia. If you get a chance, hop over to AKL for dinner at Boma.

Ciao,
Mort.

LOL how true!! DVC makes it a little less painful! This is trip #3 this year so we've gotten our moneys worth out of these AP's. Thanks for the AK info. Keep them coming!!

Things like "The Sword In The Stone" ceremony are one of the extras that a lot of people overlook at MK.

Go to the back of Exposition Hall in MK. There is a small theater, memorabilia, picture/photo cutouts.
Hall of Prsidents is a great cool-down on a hot afternoon. So is Ice Station Cool in Epcot.
Do the Animation Tour in MGM.
Boma is an excellent restaurant - be adventurous.

I second the votes for Tarzan Rocks and the area after sounds dangerous!!! I love Tarzan, its a really awesome show. I don't recommend the ACTUAL Sounds Dangerous show, it stinks, but the area after it is cool. Its behind the automatic glass doors to the right of the entrance to the attraction. I love the sound booths and the dubbing microphones. Me and my friend did the Roger Rabbit/Eddie Valiant one for an hour one day and then kept reciting it the rest of the day!

I put myself on the clueless list for this......could you please give a few more details (when, where, what?)

Thanks
Sandy

Rafiki's Planet Watch in AK is a really nice, quiet place to go for some down time at AK (although the whole park begs for a slower pace). It has a really cool "3D Sounds of the Rainforest" booth. It is dark in there and all you hear is, well, a rainforest! With a little twist at the end!

Have fun!

Bummer about the Hunchback! It was one of the best shows we ever saw at MGM.

The Sword In the Stone Ceremony is conducted around 6 times a day 5 days a week on the castle side of Cindy's merry-go-round. There you will see the sword in the stone (actually, it's in an anvil). Merlin comes out and asks the audience for volunteers to try and remove the sword from the stone and be selected as "temporary leader of the realm". He usually picks a young child and a 20'ish guy to try. Of course, it's Disney World so the adult fails and the kid succeeds. They are then crowned and presented with a certificate (and they used to give out a special medal) with great pomp. The show is around 20 mintues long, funny, and entertaining. For more details, see: http://wdwig.com/mk_merlin.htm The winner also can get Merlin's autograph, which is very rare.

Our son was selected in 2000 and walked around beaming all day with his medal around his neck.
