Less than magical day: death involved.

To be brief.... I found my dead neighboor's body today. He had apparently been days for 3 days. Or more. It was disgusting. Traumatizing. Having the "savior" reflex, I checked his pulse.... Though you could see by looking at him he was dead.

My doc gave me medicine to relax until I get to see a therapist.

Nothing a 25 y/o should ever see.

He had been my neighboor for over 20 years. He was a great guy.

I thought the dis might help me get through this.

Wow! I'm so sorry you had to deal with that. Seeing a dead person for the first time can certainly be traumatizing. And it's worse when you actually know the person.

If I can be of any assistance let me know. I work in a profession dealing with sickness, death and dying. Feel free to PM me if you want.

I'm sorry.

Thank goodness you found him though. Poor man.

I am so sorry. :sad1:

I hope you can get to the therapist soon. I'm glad you have medication to help take the edge off until you can come to grips with it.

I feel so bad for you. :grouphug:

I'm sorry you had to go through that ordeal. How sad for you to lose your neighbour and go through the trauma of finding him. I hope you find comfort in your family, friends and the DIS.

I'm so terribly sorry. What an awful experience. I'm glad you are talking about it, and especially that you will see a professional and talk some more. Hang in there.

Thank you everyone!

I had seen my grandmother dead... but I did not find her in a traumatizing position..you know?? She was at the hospital.

In august I had to put my 15 y/o cat to sleep.

Yet... how I found him is very traumatizing..

Thank you all for your concern and feedback.

It means so much to me.

I'm so sorry for your experience. It's very unsettling, I know. We went through something similar last year--our neighbor committed suicide, and when his family members found him, they came and got my husband because he's a policeman. My husband went over there, but it was obvious that he was dead and had been for a couple of days. Called 911, etc. DH was quite upset at first--Even though he's a cop, he hasn't dealt with that kind of situation before, but he felt better with time. I'm sure that you will too. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Hopefully it's not suicide... not that I believe.

He was supposed to have a hernia(sp?) operation.

A very cursed family. Let's leave it at that.

Oh my goodness, I am so sorry. You're right, no 25 year old should have to see that.

I belong to a website that you may fiind helpful right now. It's www.dailystrength.org. It's been helping me to work through an accident I had several years ago. You would be able to find support on there also.

Hugs to you.

I am so sorry for you...Each day will soften the trauma...May he rest in peace. I am sure his family is very grateful you found him before any more time passed.

Oh my goodness..I am so sorry you had to find your neighbor like that! Hugs to you and his family.
