Does anyone know what the exam fee is for Lenscrafters?

Not exactly sure but you save like 30% with a AAA card. Sorry I can't recall how much just the exam was.

I don't know about Lenscrafters, but I know it's very inexpensive at Wal Mart (maybe $50?) and BJs is inexpensive as well. The glasses at both places are very inexpensive also and the same quality you would get at Lenscrafters or any other similar chain.

I don't remember the fee at LensCrafters, but I do remember it seemed like lots of money! I recently had my exam at Costco, it was $90 including dilation.

I went to Lenscrafters last year and they only took off $20 with AAA, not 30%. They said that was only for glasses/contacts purchases. It was $156 for eye exam, contact exam/fitting and taking some pictures of the back of my eyeballs. Outrageous. Where I saved money was buying my contacts online. I won't be back at Lenscrafters.

:scared1: I paid that for my exam plus my glasses at Lenscrafter
But I'll add I don't think they do the best exam and you can refuse certain things they want to do- like that eyeball photo-(I said no thanks they made me sign something but I did)

I will call tomorrow to see. My Dd has an appointment at Walmart on Monday (exam $65) but I thought since I was on a roll with AAA and savings I thought i would see what the difference in price would be.

We have eye insurance but they changed from a yearly exam to a two year exam and my Dd said her vision has changed so I want to take care of it before school starts and she got glasses a little over a year ago.

Just paid $52 at Walmart on Tuesday for DD. Ordered 2 pairs of glasses at Zenni for $35 on Tuesday night...her prescription had changed 2 steps since December! She wasn't due for another exam yet, either so we went el-cheap-o route, too!

Just paid $80 for the exam at the doctor's office inside Lenscrafters. That office though is separate from Lenscrafters (as in they don't take the 30% AAA discount on exams). Lenscrafters gives the AAA discount off of the glasses though, but each optometrist gets to decide about the AAA discount itself.

The eye doctor at Lenscrafters is an independent practitioner. The cost varies from one store to the next because they can charge their own fee for service.

I recommend FOR EYES if they have one around you. We paid $44 for the exam. Also, remember to get your PD and a copy of your prescription in case you want to order a spare pair from Zenni. We got 4 pairs of prescription sunglasses for Disney for $55 dollars. :cool2:

I would not go to a Lenscrafters. Consumer Reports did an article on optometrists & Lenscrafters had the hightest error rate. Not to mention high prices. In most areas local optometrist are priced lower without any discounts than Lenscrafters discounted price. Lenscrafters has high overhead with advertising & mall rent. My husband is an optometrist and I can tell you that most (not all) doctors at Lenscrafters are either recently out of school or can't get a job anywhere else. Why else work at a high volume clinic for low wages? :confused3 I call around to other offices in our area including Lenscrafters to compare exam prices & frame prices, Lenscrafters are almost always the most expensive. A local optometrist has lower overhead & no middle man to pay, resulting in lower prices.

Same reason I didn't go back. I get my exams done at Wal-Mart.

if you find a private doctor they will do the exam under your medical insurance, even if it doesnt cover eye exams and all you do is pay your copay you would pay at your reg. doctors office... mine was only 20.00

Ours is $49 for a regular exam or $98 for the full comprehensive exam. Our office also took off the AAA discount. The glasses for DD were also reasonable since they had free lenses with any frame. We have found the Lenscrafter glasses hold up better than Vision Works or some of the other cheap local places.
