Lens Rentals

I should have mentioned RentGlass.com too. It seems like they are less likely to have what you need in stock but they are located in Celebration, FL. If you're going to WDW you may be able pick up the lens on your way in and drop it off on your way out.

Thanks so much. I had bookmarked LensPro but lost it when I switched platforms a few months ago. I had looked last year at renting but could not remember where. I think I will give them a call. I have a good friend in Florida so local rental is an option but I would like time to play beforehand I think. O.k. that's just an excuse to use it longer. :rotfl: Maybe I can find a way to use it for work after all. ;)

LensProtoGo is great and you can call ahead and reserve a lens too.

Thank you all for the information. I have one reserved and should arrive by the 14th of August (we leave on the 25th) so I should have time to play and use it for a few outdoor shoots I have scheduled.

I am so excited to use a "White Beast"

wow, some major price difference on those sites. one list 41 per week for the same lens that is 95 a week at another....

You're comparing apples and oranges - the $41 price didn't include shipping and since they didn't have it in stock, can't tell how much they charge. The 3rd place was $98 including shipping so I bet they are all pretty similar.

I C they do appear to be a little closer with shipping included.
one was 59 + 29 ship = 88, one was 95 incl shipp, other was
54 and had to login to see shipping....

Does anyone have any recommendations on a Lens Rental company that they have used?

Lensrentals.com is the one I use. I currently have the Canon 100-400 L lens from them. They are great to use. This is the second lens I ahve rented from them and have been 100% satisfied with them.

I used lensprotogo and didn't have any issues... they also ship their stuff in pelican cases (I don't know if other companies do this but I would assume they would). :thumbsup2

I went with rentglass.com. They had the lens I needed (Cannon 100-400mm IS), and the price for one week was pretty good too ($49). Appreciate all of your responses.

This is my first time using an L series lens and IS. Any quick tips out there?

I was thinking, Hey, why not rent the D700 to see if I like going FF? Yikes! $400 for three weeks!!! Guess I won't
I'm probably going to go after the 70-200 for a few weeks and then make a decision about a purchase.

Has anyone ever rented a lens from a company that SHIPS it to you and you ship it back?

I live in a very rural area, with no place to rent from and it looks like I won't have the money to purchase my 35mm lens and certainly won't have the money to buy the 18-200mm I would like to have to walk around with! ;)

I have a Nikon D40 with just the kit lens (18-55 NO VR) which I really really don't like, and my other lens is my 55-200mm, which I love, BUT, it isn't conducive to closer pics. I took it to the zoo and was backing up, backing up, backing up (into people!) all day long and was happy with the quality of pic (unlike my 18-55mm) but not happy that people were cut off.

So, I have 54 days and I want to rent a lens. Which lens would you pick? Do you trust the quality of lenses when rented? I REALLY want a walk around lens as I just don't want to be switching lenses all day. Leaning towards the 18-200. Is this a good lens??

Opinions? The first place I ran across had an 18-200 for 34$ a week. I thought that was a really good price??

I live in a rural area also. I've rented from borrowlenses a few times. I got the fisheye lens, just can't get enough of that bend ;). Anyway, the transactions were flawless. I gave myself a buffer day on either end of my trip. That way if Fedex was delayed I was still able to get it before I left for my trip.

Good luck :thumbsup2.

I have rented from lensrentals.com and have been very happy with the service. It was flawless in every way.

Uh..... I just noticed something ... take a look at our trip tickers :)

I have not rented yet, but I have been considering it also. I have done so much research over the last week, I am dreaming about lenses...literally. As soon as I think I know which lens I want to buy, I see something else to consider. ugh!!! Choosing the camera I wanted was easy...this lens stuff is hard...especially when you are normally indecisive like me. I may just need to rent a few and try them out before I buy.

Anyway, I have read nothing but glowing reviews for LensRental.com.
