Lens Hood

I have the Nikon 18mm - 200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR lens. When I use the lens hood with the built in flash, I get a shadow (bottom center) on wide angles.

Do you use lens hoods? Will I have the same problem with the SB600 external flash?

Yes I have the same problem while using any direct flash with my 20D + 17-40mm combo, at 17mm there is a good sized shadow on the bottom of the image. A bounce flash or omnibounce can help eliminate this problem.

Will I have the same problem with the SB600 external flash?

You should be in the clear if you use the 600.
