I'm going to be at Disney in a couple months for a short trip. I'll be taking my Canon A-1, its standard lens, along with my 80-200 telephoto zoom. The 50mm will be on the camera unless I'm using the zoom. However, I do not have a seperate camera bag and will not be getting one before the trip. I'm planning on sticking the zoom in my backpack, but I know it won't be safe enough alone. Hence, I'd like to get a seperate lens case for it.

Do you have any suggestions? (The lens is 6.5 inches tall and about 2.5 inches wide.)

I do the same thing sometimes...just throw the extra lens in my backpack. I just bought a Lowepro lens case that fit. I have one for my long zoom and I have one for my every day lens (17-40 mm). And I discovered that the case of my every day lens is wide and short enough to carry my video camera if I don't carry an lens in it (it can go on my waiste belt then.) But I digress. Just head over to the camera store and see which cases fit your lens. That's what I did.

I too, use the lowe pro cases for my wide angle and 80-200. I put those and my body in a Domke protective wrap.... and all can go inside my regular back pack. ...that way I have a bit more storage for family goodies.

Thats how I carry my stuff in the parks or on a hike. Camera around my neck and extra lens in a lens case in my fannypack or backpack. Lowepro makes different sizes. I have a neoprene Zing cover for my slr for when it needs just a bit of protection.

I use "Zing" lens cases sometimes. I have a couple and when at a Disney park or somewhere else where I'll be changing lenses constantly, I put one (or two, but that starts to look really silly ;) ) on my belt. They're fairly flexible, probably not quite as much protection as some of the ones with more sturdy shapes, but I prefer the flexibility and smaller size. Just another option...

They come in a few different sizes, FWIW.

Thanks! Glad to know I'm not the only one to do what I'm planning. I'll definitely check out the Lowepro cases when I get a chance to go to the camera store.

Thanks so much for posting this question!! I am really interested in these too. This is the exact same way I carry my extra lenses and I've been looking for lens cover options. I hadn't quite figured out how to explain what I was looking for to post.
