Lens cap with a hood?

I use a hood on my lens but I can't get my lens cap completey on because the pinch mechanism is on the outer edge. Seems like a saw a nikon camera with a lens cap that had a center pinch which seems easier with the hood.

I have canon and the cap I have now is just a generic replacement but the original still had the outer rim pinch.

Are ther newer caps for canon or does nikon just have best design?

You can buy 3rd party lens caps on ebay for cheap if you want center pinch lens caps. As it is I can get my lens caps on just fine with the hood in place. Just insert on side and push down on the other.

Thanks I'll look into that. I can get it on sort of easy enough but I have to pick at it with my fingernail to get it off .. annoying.

my lens says 58mm on the inside rim. I assume that is the size to buy?

Just be careful with some of the center pinch caps. I too ordered a few off ebay to use with lens hoods, and depending on the lens some of the ebay caps' pinch mechanisms (for lack of a better term) actually contact the lens. Needless to say I use the original Canon caps on those lenses!
