Okay, so, has anyone ever stayed for more than a week? :earsboy: Like say, 2 weeks? DH and I are wanting to plan a trip there next year for that length of time. Actually, his dream is that length of time. :rockband: He claims we never get to do everything we want.

If you have stayed there that long, did you get burned out? Did you get any kind of perk for staying that long?

Just wondering :goodvibes

In Sept.2003 we stayed at POR for 15 days. We had a wonderful time. We didn't get burnt out at all!! We did not "do" the parks everyday. Some days were spent just hanging out at the pool or taking a bike ride. Our son loved the lego store so one day we tooked the boat to DD and spent a few hours playing there. It was a relaxing, fun and amazing vacation and we would do it again for that length if we get the chance. This year we are taking a 15 day vacation but only 7 of those will be :earboy2: @ WDW.

Have a great trip!!

We usually get burned out around day 10 or so. You start wanting your own bed, your own bathroom, your own kitchen, etc. and they crowds thing really starts to wear on you. Plus, day 10 is when I start adding up how much things are costing and thinking about the bills/other goals we would use the money for at home. Also, DH starts getting pretty antsy about work.

I used to always want long vacations, but I've come around to the "leave 'em wanting more" theory.

We've never gotten any type of perk for a long stay, but it might be easier to get the room you want if you're willing to move--you'll have much more opportunity to wait for the location/view you want to come available.

I suppose you'll have to try it for yourself and see how you like it. Hope you have a great trip!

I always stay for 2 weeks, I know, I know I'm from the uk and it takes sooooo long just to get to florida but we always have a 2 week pass to WDW and just take things real easy, when you combine 2 or 3 days in the waterparks and a day for shopping and/or golf, horse riding, its really relaxing. it also means that you can go back to the favourite rides again and again. And seeing illuminations and fantasmic 3 or 4 times each is worth the price of the passes alone

We stayed for 17 days in 1999. We did get burned out and actually homesick! I was 6 months pregnant, had a 3 yr old, and there was a hurricane....the weather was horrid - COLD, blustery, constant rain. We saw what we wanted to and were tired.

We were packing up on a rainy, blustery Saturday afternoon, my 3 yr old was vomiting, and we were just really ready to go home after our 2 week trip. My husband dug out our plane tickets.....Well, he had the travel agency at work purchase them for us. I told him the date that I desired our return ( a Sunday) and they - and I am sure he - bought them for a Saturday - the day we were packing up. So we missed our flight. :guilty: We had to stay until the following Tuesday because of the hurricane things were booked tight.

I cannot even imagine wanting to leave WDW now. I would LOVE to be able to stay 2 weeks or more. Due to older kids, DHs schedule, etc. it just cannot happen now unless it is in summer. I don't think that would be too pleasant, though. I don't know if I would be sick of it or not, really. Things were just so awful on that trip with the weather, sickness, me being pregnant.....

ALWAYS check your plane tickets!!!! I thought DH did - I guess he did, but didn't get together with me regarding the date!

We've stayed for 12 days at WDW, and we've stayed for 14 days with a 7 day Magic cruise in the middle.

Too much!

We got sick of it, and we didn't even do the aprks every day. This is before we owned the hosue in FL, and we would go and stay at WDW 2-4 times a year for at least 4-5 days each time.

I suppose if I hadn't been there a lot or in a long time, and wanted to do things other than ride rides I might like it for a couple weeks. I wouldn't want a regular hotel room though--those walls would close in quickly. I'd be looking at a DVC villa for sure!

In 2003 we spent 18 nights in the Orlando area. 5 nights near USF and 13 nights at WDW (CSR, BWI, GF).

It was great

I would do it again in a heartbeat. Even after that long of a trip I did not want to leave. I took my Mom on that trip and I thought I would have to get security to forcefully remove her fome the GF :earboy2: (she did not want to leave). Then again - who could blame her.

The only thing that would prevent me from doing it again is time and money.

We always go for approx. 2 weeks and just love it and you know what, it's still not long enough for us.
We spread everything out so it's less tiring and more enjoyable. We do parks every other day so on our off days we can enjoy the pool or go downtown or enjoy other theme parks like SeaWorld, Busch Gardens and Universal. I'm in my mid-40's so my legs do need some rest and I cannot do parks every single day.
Our best friends also recently moved to Florida so we visit with them as well.

No perks for long stays. If you want to stay and can't afford Disney onsite, try renting a vacation home or hotelkingdom.com we got good rates for a week stay.

We are like reverse snow birds. Last summer we spent 3 weeks at Ft. Wilderness and this summer, we are going to stay for a little over 7 weeks. I will be down there with 5 of the kids, hubby when he feels like it and any other family members that manage to make it down there. We ordered a larger camper last month and it should be here before we go (hopefully). Camping allows us to have our own bed, pillows ect... Plus we eat most meals at the camper saving tons of money. We do not do the parks every day. The kids have a great time just plundering around the campground. We do try to make some of the extra magic hours during the week when the parks are not so crowded. The kids are counting down the days and the hubby is excited because it has been a looooong time since he had a quiet home to come to :rotfl2: .

I stayed for 3 weeks before, see my sig...I changed resorts!!

This Aug DS13 & I are taking our first 2 wk vacation and our first mother/son WDW vacation
we're staying 8nights at VWL and 6nights at BCV
will not be activating our APs until our 3rd full day
Planning on pool hopping (DVC) to GF, Poly, Contemp, Boardwalk
planning on Typhoon Lagoon
eating at new restaurants and some favorites we'll be returning to
Planning on mornings at the pools and nights for parks, at least 1 morn to each park at their regular opening times
meeting DISers who will be on a cruise with us next Aug
meeting ppl from home who will be at WDW during our 1st wk
hopefully going on our first Illuminations cruise

Are you kidding? Get tired of WDW? LOL! We were going 14 nights twice a year. The last two years we went over 30 days. We never tired of it and really hated to leave when it was time. We still havent' done everything but look forward to trying in the next trips to do so. There are not special perks.

Sign me up in the club. We just returned from three weeks. My co-workers think I've lost my mind. I'm trying to justify another three week trip next Sept but think because I am a supervisor I shouldn't take long vacations but rather split them up. Course I also believe in the "well if you've earned the vacation time..."

Anyway, we just did the cruise/resort mix and find that really works for us. This time we did a 3 night and 13 night at the resorts plus it takes us 4 travel days to drive. With kennel fees for the dogs at home and housesitter fees for the cats it all adds up.

I think this next trip it will be more like 4 nt cruise and 10 nights resort which if I time it right we will only miss two full weeks of work/school.

Do we get tired of the world? NO! However, last trip was peak season and we were getting tired of rude people and the big crowds. Unfortunatly you can't tell the Army when to return your husband from overseas "No not March that's peak season!" :earboy2:

I usually time our vacations by how many days per park. A minimum trip for us is 2 days per park as we can rarely spend the entire day. During warmer months I allow 3 days per park as we spend more time in the pool and I allowed 3 days during peak as the lines are longer and you get to do less. Course when you add those days onto the end of a cruise it makes for a longer vacation.

The jury is still out on the length of the next trip but I'd imagine it will be as stated earlier but I always manage to add on some days as time gets closer... I still can't even make the actual room only reservations. :rolleyes1

The longest we've stayed is 12 nights. It was the most relaxing vacation we've ever taken. We did both BB and TL, DTD, a day with water mice boats and HDD and multiple days at each park.

It was so nice not worrying if the line for Space Mtn was an hour wait cause we knew we'd have another chance to go to MK. One day we spend just going from watching Off Kilter to British Invasion to Mo'rockin (sp?) and back again. One day we went to MGM, rode ToT and RNR, to MK and rode Splash, Space and Big Thunder and then to Epcot for the evening.

If we could stay longer we would. In fact, we love it so much we are planning on buying a 5th wheel and staying at Ft Wilderness for 3 months every winter when we retire.

We usually stay 10-12 days. DH is responsible for most of the work load at his Dad's business...so it's really hard for us to be able to get away for "short trips". He also claims he cannot get into vacation mode and really relax in just a few days.

Since we drive down, you have to add on a couple of days for travel...so we're always "on vacation" for at least 2 weeks.

We have never gotten "burned out". The only thing we're ever burned out on is work!!! :rotfl:

We don't do Disney parks every day though. We do "take a break" and visit other area attractions, do some shopping, just hang out at the hotel pool, etc. We also love the water parks! Even with sleeping and doing most of our eating at Disney...we're never burned out...just bummed out to have to leave!!! :sad2:

If you have stayed there that long, did you get burned out? Did you get any kind of perk for staying that long?

LOL! Oh yes!, I've stayed as long as 6 weeks. No, no burn out. As to perks? Definately - lower blood pressure! :)

We always go for a month but because we fly in from England we like to feel it is worth the long trip. We have a 7 yr old DD and we never seem to get burned out. We don't do the parks every day but spend some time hsopping and water parking also by the hotle pool. We usually saty at BCV - so storm along bay is always a good option for a quiet day.

15 days in Oct 2000 - plenty of time to see everything we wanted and relax without rushing
