Lei Greetings at the Polynesian

I used to be one of those people, But I had to go to San Diego by myself for a few days and I LOVED it! I never thought I would, but I had so much fun by myself! I can't believe it took me so long to take a trip alone.

It took me awhile as well. When I started my first job which is my current job out of college 5 years ago, that is when I started traveling by myself. Vegas, WDW, Hawaii, etc I just enjoy traveling. I am sure I would enjoy it if someone went with me, but that would be something I would have to get use to again.

I just really started traveling, but it seems like I want to go everywhere! I can't wait to go to wdw! It's taken me 21 years to get there ( I 1st asked when I was 5) But I know it's gonna be great! How can it not be it's Disneyworld! :teeth:

Tracy,

My first trip 4 years ago, I stayed offsite at Hampton-Inn and it couldn't have gone any worse. There van service was bad, first van out 9 or 10 am and last van in 5 pm. I was never able to stay long enough to see fantasmic, the fireworks, etc. I was on a really really small budget, but never thought it would turn out that bad. I ended up eating at Wendy's for dinner all the time, because it was cheap and within walking distance of the room. By the time I left, I was glad to be going home.

Now there is a big big difference between staying off site and staying at a Disney onsite resort like the Polynesian. You don't have to worry about leaving early to catch the last van, or having to stay at the park from 9-5 without being able to rest back at your resort. You have so many more food choices, you can do character meals and you get that Disney magic 24-7.

You are making the right choice about staying onsite for your first trip. I wish I knew about boards like this 4 years ago before I went on mine. I would have stayed at a value resort instead of the offsite one I did.

Also, to make it a little funner, go to the following site, and print out mousekeeping envelopes for your tips http://users.adelphia.net/~heidiw/. This way you can create your on way of giving them there tips each day, or week or however you want to.

I was SOOOO lucky to find this site! I did a search for disney pictures and it came up. I was lucky to find it before I made a bad choice! I wouldn't think any trip to wdw could be bad, but I guess if you have next to no time in the parks it will be! Those envelopes are so cute! I wanted a cute way to tip, without looking like a wiseguy(girl) trying to tip people.

Tracy,

Don't get me wrong. Staying offsite is ok and there isn't anything wrong with it. However after what I went through I will personally never stay offsite again. Since I'm a WDW person and don't want to go over to universal and other theme areas onsite works great.

yeah, I don't see really having time to see other parks, so staying onsite works for us too.

Tracy,

Think about it. You are so close to almost everything when you stay onsite. No having to drive if you don't want to, being able to get from the resort to the parks pretty quickly and staying/going as you please as long as you have the hopping part added on to your MYW tickets. I am getting an AP, so I can come and go as I please.

I have to get up for work early tommorrow, so I guess we will have to continue this disscussion later.

yeah, we had to think about all that when we booked, we're taking my 5 year old nephew with us and wanted to make sure we were close in case he got tired or needed a nap in the middle of the day, it was the right choice for us, and who wouldn't want to stay in such a beautiful place! anyway I've got to go to bed, but it was nice to have a little disney chat without someone rolling their eyes at all my disney babble....night!

I've always wanted a lei greeting ever since I saw the Brady's land in Honolulu! So when we went I may have been a little overanxious to be greeted with one...I saw the lady put the lei's on some folks...my husband was patiently waiting at the check in desk...only one person checking folks in...and for some reason it was taking a LONG time...the kids were getting antsy sitting there and I told them that the lady might help show them how to make a lei at the table..she made a comment about how it would be done after we check in...and wouldn't let my children make one while other children were. I felt like she didn't believe us that we were going to be guests there and just trying to get a lei when really I was trying to entertain my children who had been through 8 hours of airports and travel! And who wants to stand around and make a lei after you've waited 45 minutes to check in after 8 hours of travel???? DUH! So we finally got our room and our check in took 3 minutes...how could 2 others take 25 minutes a piece? UGH! So then she tries to usher us over to the lei table and entice my children with making their own lei...they weren't buying it. They wanted to go potty and bad. Oh well..so no lei...and not a very good first impression.

We stayed onsite for the first time last year, at the POly and we got leis at check in. I know know that I will NEVER EVER stay offsite again

We stayed at the Poly last July and we were given lei's at the check in counter but they just handed them to us and we put them on.

We got them on our first visit. After that we got them for some but not all.
When it was very busy at check-in then they tend to forget about them.

People who book a minimum five night stay at a deluxe resort through Magical Vacations receive a fresh lei direct from Hawaii. The leis are sent to the resort so travelers can wear them around WDW. This plan is called the Tiki-Plan in honor of Tikiman's Polynesian Resort web pages. There are additional perks for people who book a package or concierge.

The website for Magical Vacations is http://www.wdwvacationplanners.com/

I am using Magical Vacations for my September trip and I am delighted with the service I receive.
