I finally went to the aquarium at
LegoLand. As an AP, I could get in for $10 a person. (usually 18.95 adult and 11.95 child). It is offered as a park hopper for like $10 more to a regular ticket.
Amyway, it is very easy to reach as it is just West of the entrance for LL...so a 3 minute walk?
The aquarium itself has some amazing tanks. Really innovative shapes and ways to see the fish. The have one that is almost like a snow globe, but chest high. There are, I think, two that are circular with a domey thing in the center that kids (and adults wanting to crouch) can standup and have their head surrounded 360 degrees by the tank. The
lego-theme and lego figures in the tanks seemed out of place and distracting. Tranquil tank with a day glo lego diver. Oh, and don't get me wrong..I LOVE LL!!!
There are two opportunities to touch starfish, shrimp, and a very cool rock looking thing called a KeyHole Limpet. The staff at both were bored and only told how to pet, didn't offer any information, but did answer when asked a question...one with a monosyllable, the other with a bit more verve.
There is a short movie with scenes from Planet Earth which is 11-12 minutes long in a small theater with very comfy seats and good A/C. Oh, and it is awesome, we sat through it 2 times. While watching it, 3 separate groups came in with under 3 year olds, lasted about 90 seconds and noisily departed again.
Will I ever go again? NO NO NO. The tanks were beautiful, but the crowd was LL. Unhappy toddlers screaming in every viewing area. Not the aquarium vibe at all. I love LegoLand, been going for about 5 years, but that is outside, bringing it inside, deafening!!!
I was glad I took the time to see it. Glad I only spent a total of $20 on it!!!!
With little kids, under 6 or 7, I think you could blow through it in 25 minutes. My Dd is 8, so she was actually interested in the fish, so we spent about 1 hour and 20 minutes there.
So, that's my review. Worth going if from an engineering standpoint you want to see the various shapes of tanks, really cool. Avoid if your child is under the age of 4 or 5, or has previously shown little interest in aquatic life. The poor little ones all seemed miserable. I think the effort to behave qquietly in a serene enviornment after the craziness of a theme park was too much!!!
