The Lego store at Downtown Disney has reasonable shipping rates for US customers, but international customers are required to use a courier (UPS?). I am a huge Star Wars Lego fan and at the time of my last trip, I had been watching for the large Imerial Star Destroyer ($300+) set, pricing it on both the Lego.com and Lego.ca web sites before looking in the Lego store. While this model was not in stock, they were in the process of discontinuing one model of the Death Star and introducing a new Death Star model. The old version was selling for $150 (50% off), so I couldn't resist. However this 3000 piece set weighed 30 lbs and would have cost $100 to ship home to Canada by courier. Luckily, we were able to wrap the box in several layers of brown wrapping paper and count it as an extra checked bag ($25). I was paranoid that the box would get crushed in the plane, but it came out without a dent or scratch.

Hey Thanks

I was the voicemail caller with that question, and yes I was looking at some of the larger sets, but I am not sure my 6year old DD will quite appreciate the Death Star just yet:rotfl2:

There is just too small a market in Australia, so all of our stuff has to be bought on line and shipped. DH just bought the robotic lego as DDs Xmas present (but possibly also for him as he has already "checked" the box contents.

The idea of shipping it as an accompanying bag is a good one, provided we have luggage capacity after PCC 2.0!
