We're going to see Legally Blonde the Musical next weekend. (It's at the Benedum Center for anyone familiar with Pittsburgh).

What's the dress code for this type of thing on a Sunday afternoon? I know it's not jeans & T-Shirt casual....but we don't have to be evening dressy do we? Is business-casual or summer sundress OK?

I don't think I've been to a show since my 9th grade school field trip :scared1: I am excited though, I watched this one on MTV several times when it first started.

i've been to a lot of theater in Boston (including Legally Blonde!) and you'll see a variety of dress.

i personally feel comfortable in a nice blouse and pants, or even a nice pair of jeans. i like to be respectful of the theater, but comfortable for sitting in those seats! And, i mean, it IS dark in there, people only see you for a little while.

have a blast!! i absolutely love the show, and the tour did a really good job.

We were at the Benedum for Joseph last Friday night. You will see a wide range of clothing, from jeans to dressy. I went in nice pants and shirt. It was cold in there. I was also disappointed to see about half the seats in the balcony were empty.

from all the musicals I've been too (in San Fransico) we dress up a little. Not full out cocktail dress or anything but like nice jeans or pants with a fancy shirt or a summer dress of some sorts. It really depends on how you want to take the event. You could make it something more special and dress up or just wear what you feel comfortable in. Almost anything is fine, and you will see people in all different types of clothes.

I just saw that musical in May. It is so very, very fun. You'll have a great time.
It depends on the time of day and whether or not you're going to also include a nice restaurant afterwards or before. Generally theater wear around here ranges from nice jeans and a plain top all the way up to full formal dresses and suits. Evening/fancy dinner involved means dressing up more. Afternoon/heading out to do other things as well means dressing more casually.
Personally, I prefer to make such trips feel more special. I generally wear a casual dress or blouse/skirt in the afternoons, or a wow dress in the evenings. When we went to LB:TM I wore a black and white print sundress with purple trim and a little black sweater. When I went to Avenue Q at night, I wore a slinky brown dress and heels with a silk and velvet scarf.
At LB:TM, we saw a lot of girls and moms as well as younger theater goers wearing lots and lots of PINK! and sparkly, to suit the theme.
