Legally Blind - Question about the various shows

Hello all,
Please forgive me if something similar has been posted recently, I tried to look through some posts, but couldn't find anything on this.

My husband has a very rare eye condition which makes him extremely sensitive to light, he wears very dark sunglasses to assist with this. However, he is also color blind (no biggee) and sees things very, very small. It's sort of like he's looking through the wrong end of a telescope.

With that said, in 2006 on our Honeymoon we saw 2 show type attractions, the Indiana Jones show and LMA. At both shows my DH spoke briefly to a CM explaining his eye condition and asking if it would be okay if we could sit close to the front in the reserved seating area, set aside for guests in wheelchairs. Both times we were instantly escorted to the benches in this area and my DH was close enough to enjoy the shows.

Now we are going in November, and we have a 1 year old. So, we will be doing more shows-like the Beauty and the Beast show, Nemo, Lion King and Fantasmic. My question is, in each of these shows (any any other shows I might be missing), is there reserved seating that is close to the stage area? If there is not, we would just skip the shows because my DH would not be able to enjoy it.

Thank you in advance, sorry for the length on this! :goodvibes

Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES!

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information. Post #6 discusses the Guest Assistance Card (GAC). I woud suggest you read that and then stop at the first park you visit to get one for him. It will work to get him some of the assistance he needs.

Or, if you want an easier route, click on the link in my signature.

Besides the information that Cheshire Figment pointed you to, on that same thread, in post #3, there are some links to past threads and other information. One of them is trip planning for a 4 yr old child with vision disability. Even though that is a child, there are some hints there that should help you.

Two of my children (15, 11) have RP and the GAC works great for them. The only thing I do is ask the card to be stamped with both the stamp giving permission to sit up front as well as the stamp for mobility issues/wheelchair entrances. We started this when we realized my dd (legally blind with very limited peripheral vision) had a tough time seeing the steps at one of the shows(I think it was B&B). The steps had a black skid proof type strip along the edge. It made the steps almost disappear for her and it was therefore difficult for her to navigate the stairs from the top/back of the theatre down the steps to the preferred seating in front. Not sure if this will be an issue for you but thought I'd mention it.
