what is the legal drinking age for the cruise to the bahamas? can an 18 yr old sit with us in a lounge? I ask because I have a son with down syndrome who will be 18 on our cruise- not that he will drink, but even would he be allowed at the adult pool? I would never let him out of my sight. He's really good- thanks

You have to be 21 to drink on the ship, but you can get into the adult areas if you're 18.

The legal drinking age on the DCL is 21. He would be allowed to use the adult pool and the adult beach since he is over the age of 18. He would also be allowed to go into the lounge with you unless things have changed as of recent.

Have a WONDERful cruise!

The legal drinking age on the ship is 21, in the Bahamas (if you go ashore) it is 18 but DCL will not allow "drunk minors" back on the ship. They have a club for the 18-20 year olds (Sorry, I'm drawing a blank on the name, but I think it's called "The Stack" on the Magic).
My daughter was 19 at the time of our cruise and she did come in the lounges with us for the comedic act, the 70's dance night, etc. I think if it's in a lounge where some type of entertainment takes place, he'll be fine in there with you.
If I were you I would call DCL and inform them of your son's condition. Who know's, maybe they will have some specific activities he may really enjoy that you are unaware of (i.e., behind the scenes tours). Disney is so great about wanting everyone to have a wonderful time!:wizard:
Hope your cruise is great!:goodvibes

BTW, since he is 18 I'm sure there would be no issue with him going to the adult pool!:woohoo:

Just to clarify this post: there is no club for the 18-20 year old group. The Stack (on the Magic) and Aloft (on the Wonder) are for the high school teens.

You are most likely correct, it just seems that my DD and our table mates DD went to a club geared for the over 18 but under 21ers. If I gave wrong info, I apologize!:confused3

I think something for the under 21 over 18 crowd is a great idea. I have kids, 18 & 20, and I know activities can be somewhat limited especially in the evenings.

They usually have a "college social" for the over 18-21 (ish)....it is held in one of the lounges and is usually listed in the Navigator.....maybe that is what you were thinking of. There is no club on the Wonder or Magic specifically geared for the 18-21 year olds.

That's it!!!:goodvibes
Thank you so much for clarifying. I know I'm overdue for a vacation but hoped I hadn't totally lost my mind yet!:lmao:
