I am on Day 7 of induction and the leg pains are so bad I am ready to stop doing this. They started on day 5. They are tolerable during the day(helps if I keep moving) but the past 2 nights I have been up off an on all night. Saturday I had a total of about 4hrs sleep (waking every 1 1/2hrs or so) but last night I had a total of about 2hrs. I was only able to doze for about 30 min. at a time til about 2:30 and then I gave up and walked around the tv room til it was time to get ready for the day. I started potassium last night but don'e know if or how long it should take to see some results. I have really been sticking to induction and am definately seeing some results but I can't go through another sleepless night. I am also drinking plenty of water and using salt on my food. The pain is just not tolerable anymore.

I think it may just be a wicked side effect of induction, I have been re inducting the last four days, and I have had awful leg cramps! I think I had them when I did my original induction about a year ago. Unfortunatly, I dont know what to do to get rid of them.:(

you poor thing!!! I have leg cramps occasionally, but nothing like you do!!
Atkins says if you have leg cramps to increase you potassium (which you've done) but in addition to this, to add magnesium and calcium. He also says to salt your food! Maybe that's why I don't get them too much- I use salt like crazy!!!

Anyway- I sure hope this helps you. Good luck!

Potassium and Vit. E are good for leg pains. I take them right before bedtime, they work immediately, and I make it through the night with no leg cramps!

Ouch! Sending pixie dust your way! I haven't had leg pains, but I have heard that potassium works too, so go find some!!! Good luck and feel better soon! :)

I haven't got leg cramps due to Induction and hopefully I never do! That sounds painful! I hope you can take care of it with the potassium and feel better soon!!

YIKES, that can't be much fun. I was very lucky and never had the leg cramps. It sounds like Rhonda has a good idea, you should try taking the supplements before bed, it might help you make it through the night.

I'm sorry that you are experiencing this, if you can hang in there a little longer the leg cramps should go away. Controlled carbohydrate eating has a diuretic effect and I think that's what causes the leg cramps.

I went to www.atkinscenter.com and did a search using leg cramps as the keywords you can read about Atkins and leg cramps HERE

Hang in there, don't give up just yet. I'll bet you can find a way around those nasty leg cramps.

I get terrible leg cramps when I get preg. The doc told me it was because I needed more calicum. Do what Rhonda says and take a pill before bed. Also by the 2nd preg. I got really good about when they were coming and would start slowly stretching my foot up and down. It really help to stop the pain. Good luck!

well I think that explains why I had that horrible charley horse Sat night.
