Besides the obvious Soup and sandwiches.
I"ll use some in eggs.
Can I freeze the leftover meat?
Any other ideas on how to use up the 8 pounds of ham I have!
Oh it was yummy too - Trader Joe's had a sale $1 a pound!

Yes, you can freeze it. I would divide it up into meal sized portions. I also love scalloped potatoes with lots of ham.

I want a Trader Joes, and I want some ham, too.:guilty:

If you like ham and cheese sandwiches, you can do Croque Monsieurs: make a ham and cheese sandwich (but no butter); dip into a mix of 1 beaten egg and 1 c. milk, lightly seasoned with salt and pepper; fry in butter or margerine until the bread is lightly toasty, and cheese melted. You can use processed cheese slices/grated or thinly sliced cheese, whatever you prefer.

Get a jar of mango chutney and mix it with butter to make a mango chutney butter spread. Spread it on the ham for sandwiches and it makes the ham to die for! :faint:

I freeze mine, then make a casserole with hash browns, c of chicken soup, sour cream, cheese and topped with crushed corn flakes. It's sooooo good.

Denver Omlettes?
I freeze ham. I cube it usually (but I've never had that much leftover) and use it in soups, eggs, that sort of thing.
You could flatten some chicken breasts, put a thin slice of ham and some cheese, roll it up and bake it! Chicken cordon bleu! (I think it's supposed to be breaded, but I'm not a fan so I don't bread it)

Ohhh...that sounds yummy!

I love quiche but I've never made it. Is it fairly easy to make?

Quiche is super easy! Especially if you buy pre made pie crust. (or make your own ahead of time and freeze it)
You prebake the pie crust (at 400*) for about 5-10 minutes, put your ham, cheese, sauteed onions, broccoli (or what ever) in the pie crust, pour an egg and cream mixture over the top, and bake it! Easy!

You've given me the incentive to try my hand at it. Now the question is, what specific filling will I use? ;)

Great ideas! Now I am getting hungry! All the ones mentioned are good ones for my family! I forgot about potatoes! And Quiche! and Croque Monsieurs And Cordon bleu chicken!mmm thanks guys! Keep them coming!

My favorite is creamed spinach (you could buy frozen to save time), sauteed onions, swiss cheese, and ham. Maybe some sauteed mushrooms too!
Also add a little dash of nutmeg to the egg/cream mixture. Makes it extra tasty!

Navy Bean Soup!!

Sorry, every time I see a spiral ham, I think of navy bean soup. I use the US Senate recipe and it is awesome.

Here's a fast, easy crock pot recipe:

Ham and Potatoes Au Gratin

6 c. sliced potatoes
1 onion, chopped
1 1/2 c. cubed cooked ham
1 c. shredded cheddar cheese
1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/2 c. milk
1/2 tsp. dried thyme leaves

In a 3 1/2 or 4 qt. slow cooker, layer half each of the potatoes, onion, ham and cheese; repeat layers. In small bowl, combine soup, milk and thyme; pour over top.

Cover and cook on high for 1 hour; reduce heat to low and cook 6-8 hours or until potatoes are tender.

I make this in the oven since I don't have a slow cooker. The only real change (other than cooking time) is that I add the cheese into the soup mixture because I find it gets too brown on top when layered. I cook it covered for about 60 minutes, then uncovered for the last 30 minutes, sometimes sprinking extra cheese on at that point (although it really doesn't need it). This is definitely one of my favourite comfort foods!

:rotfl: no advice but I have the same ham sitting in my fridge and another waiting to be cooked in the freezer.

Linguine with Ham & Swiss Cheese*

8 ounces uncooked linguine, broken in half
2 cups cubed fully cooked ham
1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted

2-1/2 cups (10 ounces) shredded Swiss cheese (*Or substitute another kind of cheese - I've used shredded cheddar)

1 cup (8 ounces) sour cream
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 cup finely chopped green pepper
2 tablespoons butter, melted

Cook linguine according to package directions; drain. Meanwhile, in a large bowl combine the ham, soup, 2 cups cheese, sour cream, onion, green pepper and butter. Add the pasta; toss to coat.

Transfer to a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking dish. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. Uncover; sprinkle with remaining cheese. B ake 15-20 minutes longer or until the cheese is melted.

Yeild: 8 servings

In addition to the green pepper, I've also added yellow and red pepper to give it more color. I've also sprinkled it with bread crumbs after adding the remaining cheese. Both DH and DS7  this dish when I make it and you can freeze leftovers!

There are other reader additions as well located on their web site: www.tasteofhome.com. Just type in Linguine with Ham & Swiss cheese in the search box to get to it.

This doesn't involve the op's ham ingredient, but my favorite quiche is with a good bit of shredded cheese on the bottom (always put the cheese on the bottom and it will help to keep the crust from getting soggy) some thin slices of onion and tomato that has been sauteed for a bit in a little olive oil. (you can arrange the tomatoes to make it look nice). Optional sprinkle of cayenne pepper, and sprinkle a small can of drained green chiles over the top. Put your egg custard mixture over that. Serve with sour cream and salsa. I do not like eggs...but I love this!
