Leftover cake

Well, as far as I know, you can take the top (anniversary) layer, but thats it. I just signed my contract and it had it spelt out in it, saying that no food or drink would be taken from the reception except for the top layer of the cake if it included the anniversary layer; otherwise, it gets tossed.

Hope this helps

We had an intimate wedding in 2005. Since it was just the two of us, we really didn't eat much of the cake. Our coordinator carried it back to our room and we ended up sharing it with the CM's in the concierge lounge.

I think the restriction about "no food taken from the reception" is probably more to do with the actual food served there, not the cake.

it would be such a waste if there were a lot of cake left over---they should allow guest to box some of the cake. I went to a wedding last week and left with like 10 slices of cake.

It applies to the cake as well. We had a cake for 150ppl and only 130 at the reception and could not take our left over cake with us.

I was told I would be able to take away my anniversary layer.....I've seen others do it as well!

Yes you can take your anniversary layer, not the rest of your left over cake though.

I know for an intimate, if you want they will box it up and send it to a resturant for you if you are having a dinner after the ceremony. So you wont be eating cake and then your dinner

make sure you tell them that you would like the extra cake that is leftover too

We had a ton of cake leftover but they only boxed up the anni. layer!

At the end of our reception they boxed all our left over cake for us. Since we had an afternoon wedding my sister or mom took the leftover cake back to ASM where all our wedding guests were staying. That night all our guests met by the pool for food and left over cake. My DH and I enjoyed an evening at Epcot while all this was going on. Our cake was for about 50 people and we only had about 26 guests. My DH and I kept the top layer of the cake.

We got our anniversary layer boxed up, and the 2nd layer which there was a ton left of. We had a ton of cake left over, which the GF stored in their fridge until we left and we took it home and gave to our families. The top layer is still in my frige. Maybe you have to ask? We didn't but maybe if you make it clear that you would like it.

I know that Epcot won't allow any food to leave the premises...including the wedding cake (except top layer). All other locations though should allow you to have the leftover cake boxed up.

Pixie08,

Do you have a Trip report on your wedding?

If so i would love to read it!!!!!

Also,
That is so dumb that you cant take your own cake, that you paid for except for the anni.......

We got married at the Yacht Club Gazebo (Intimate/Escape). They boxed up all of our left over cake (we served from both layers) and put it in the limo to take back with us. When we got back to our resort (BWV), bell services took it from the limo and put it in our room refrig for us. Our whole wedding group snacked on it for the next couple of days.

Reception at California Grill, we also saw in the contract about not taking food...so we warned our guests to bring their own containers ;) . Anyway, they boxed the top layer and then the rest of the cake seperately and just gave it to us (that box was heavy with cake). We took it back to the hotel and they kept it in the freezer by the luggage pick/drop off.

I had a custom wedding and they boxed up all the left over cake which filled 2 boxes and the cake topper. I gave one box to my Dad who was staying off property in a rented house with alot of our family and the other 2 were delivered by bell services to my room at the BCV. We ate cake for days! But it was soooooo YUMMY!

We had a custom at LS and we were given two boxes - one with the anniversary layer and one with the leftover 2nd layer. We were able to take it back to the resort, however, the large box did not fit in our resort refrigerator and we had to leave it in the resort's kitchen refrigerator. Needless to say, we didn't ever get it out of there. I would recommend asking your coordinator in advance, and at the reception about getting the cake boxed up, and if you or someone else could bring a box for it, that would probably be better than the LARGE box (about 16" square, and 8" high) that they give you. Oh, and they will not cut up the leftover cake for you, either.
