We are going to have 1 child's 2-day pass at the end of our trip that will be completely unused. We don't plan to return to Disney anytime real soon so we would prefer not to hold on to these. Are they sell-able?

If it is unused, it can be sold or given away, from what I understand. You'd have to find someone who trusts that it IS unused though. Most people will not buy tickets like that.

Tickets are good forever, and you can upgrade it to an adult ticket when the child is older. If you're worried about losing the physical ticket, you can scan it and keep that info to have the ticket replaced.

You can upgrade a child ticket to an adult ticket when the child is older IF that ticket has been used at least once. If it is a completely unused ticket they will not upgrade it. Been there/done that, got stuck with an unused child's ticket once after my 9 yo got sick on a weekend trip and didn't end up going into the parks at all. Next trip she was 'adult' status and ticket was 'child'.

I am assuming you could pay to have it upgraded. Can't any unused ticket be upgraded within 14 days of first use? I wasn't talking about a free upgrade. That would be an option on a semi-used non-expiring ticket.

An unused ticket does not expire. If you save the ticket for your next visit, if the child is still under ten the ticket can be used. If the child is ten or older, you can get credit for the amount Disney sold the ticket for against the purchase of a new ticket.

If you go to the locked sticky Everything About WDW Tickets in the TPA&S Forum, especially Post #9 (also, to an extent, Post #6), you can get a lot more information. An easy way to get to the sticky is by clicking on the link in my signature.
