Left line faster? Fact or Fiction

We have done some tests before and we found that it all depended on the ride, time of day, placement of the moon and other things. There were times the left was faster, other times the right was faster and then some where you wound up at the end at the same time. We figure it all averages out somehow.

It's hit or miss! You never can tell!

We usually go to the left and it seems that about half of the time, it is slower!

My personal experience is that whatever line I am NOT in is faster. Right or left doesn't matter. If I'm not in it, it's the fast line.

My dad says it is, but I agree with the others, whatever line I am not in is the fastest!!

This sound very crazy. But, my parents are very very religious, if you are pray for "perfect timing". They always do, and it works! Crazy! :cool1:

On the last 3 trips that we have been on, we have not had to wait more than 15 minutes for anything. It was like the waves parted and every ride was waiting on us when we arrived. We joked all three trips that it was the "cosmic forces."

This included trips during July, October, and January so it spanned from peak to slow season!

Gotta love that Disney Magic!

After 24 years of theme park attendance the left iususally quicker except for:
ToT
Splash Mountain
ET at USF

While we were at TOT last week we noticed this strange phenomenon, and yes the left lane was faster! As we walked into the boiler room everyone was going to the right elevator, which had a line. We walked straight to the left elevator which had no line, walk on every time, not once was there even a full car!!! We did this 7 times in a row, same thing, always a line on the right, empty left. :confused3

I've found that when there are two lines -one of the two is usually faster although not always the left one(and almost always the one I'm not in). However when we're at ,lets say, a counter service restaurant the middle lines will be packed and the outer lines might have no one in them. weird.

I had this experience on my last trip, only my observation came at the park entrances. At Epcot, for example, the walkway sort of lead everyone to the main turnsiles in the middle. The lines were probably 30 people deep. I looked around and saw 3 turnstiles all the way on the left with ZERO people waiting and the CM's seemed to be enjoying their idleness, because they weren't exactly advertising their services. We thought it was too good to be true, but it wasn't. Ditto at AK, only this time it was the turnstile for both CM's and guests. I guess everyone assumed they weren't guests. Oh, at AK, the short line was on the right.

It used to be true, but now most of the ride it would be effective on, use the left line for fastpass.

I don't think it matters in most cases, since in this day and age of instant communication, pretty much everyone has heard the "left line" theory. So whatever advantage may have existed in days gone by is history now.

Ditto for me! I think I'm jinxed!

Most lines are about the same, but if you can see a lot of the line, look and see what looks like the one that is the shortest - some have longer corners than others (inside vs. outside lines) others have a shorter final stretch to reach the loading CM, etc.

Unfortunately Bruce Almighty was not with us on our last trip and I did test this theory all week and I will say it was FALSE! Right or left was about the same. Or like others have mentioned, whatever line I was in seemed to take longer. Where was Bruce when you needed a line (or tomato soup) parted? :confused3

Anyone actually tested the claim that the left line is faster?

Actually, I believe the claim is the left line is usually shorter, not faster. That's because most people automatically go to the right. So, when approaching a decision point, look and select the shorter line rather than just following the herd to the right.
