Okay, this is our first time going on a dining plan, and my first time actually planning a trip to WDW! Let me know what you think about our ADR's that we booked. We have a 10 year old boy, 3 year old boy and 2 year old girl :)

Arrive- Ohana Dinner
HS- Hollywood and vine breakfast (have a before opening ADR, so get to sign up for Jedi training before park opening), where ever we end up for dinner. Not to many really exciting sounding places there. :/
MK- no ADR's, thinking cinnamon rolls for breakfast from Gastons, Columbia Harbour House for an early-ish lunch, pecos bill's for a late dinner.
Epcot- Room breakfast, Akershus lunch, Tangierine, Katsura, or Liberty Inn for dinner
Animal Kingdom- Room breakfast, Flametree, Harambe or pizzafari early Lunch, Tusker house ROL package dinner
Take off day/possible extra resort day- This will depend on if we save enough in plane tickets by leaving a day later. If we take off this day, 1900 park fare breakfast. If we stay, we are undecided between keeping the breakfast, or doing a Cape May dinner. Not sure what the better option will be

Here's my 2 cents worth.

Arrive-
Ohana Dinner - Arrival day meals are tricky, travel time, getting your bearings on traveling to and from and getting the lay out of your resort. Also trying not to stress out on being on time. You will have 3 kiddo's with you, so they are more than likely going to be tired, might not be a good combo for them to enjoy dinner. You might want to opt for QS at the resort and some pool time.

HS- Hollywood and vine breakfast (have a before opening ADR, so get to sign up for Jedi training before park opening), where ever we end up for dinner. Not to many really exciting sounding places there. :/ We just did this for the first time at the end of January and it was so cute our 2 year old grandson was so excited to see Jake, and meal was really pretty good, lots to choose from. I agree on the choices for QS... you could catch a friendship boat just outside of the HS and head over to the boardwalk or one of the resorts over there and check out there food courts a lot of options to choose from, or head back to take a nap/pool before finishing the evening at HS for fireworks.

MK- no ADR's, thinking cinnamon rolls for breakfast from Gastons, Columbia Harbour House for an early-ish lunch, pecos bill's for a late dinner. These are all solid QS so you should have no problems, While you might not be thinking about a TS you might want to try the plaza, still sandwiches and really yummy milk shakes, but it is a TS and a good place to sit down for a while to catch your breath, and have someone else wait on you. Or maybe crystal palace and lunch with Winnie the pooh and gang...

Epcot- Room breakfast, Akershus lunch, Tangierine, Katsura, or Liberty Inn for dinner - Akerhus will be a fun time, Princess who doesn't love princess, as far as the food it was just okay, nothing really special.

Animal Kingdom- Room breakfast, Flametree, Harambe or pizzafari early Lunch, Tusker house ROL package dinner - Tusker house is so cute with the characters in their safari outfits. The food here is always good along with service. Flametree is our favorite QS, take one of the paths to the back it really beautiful on the water.

Take off day/possible extra resort day- This will depend on if we save enough in plane tickets by leaving a day later. If we take off this day, 1900 park fare breakfast. If we stay, we are undecided between keeping the breakfast, or doing a Cape May dinner. Not sure what the better option will be[/QUOTE] - Do you already have the extra night included with your stay? Last year some friends wanted to stay 2 extra nights at WDW as they decided not to go to the beach for the last 2 nights of their vacation. It took a bit of time, and moving resorts but they did ended up staying. Now adding extra day to their tickets was easy peasy. Either way your going to have fun, both do a great job and times we have been.

I can't comment on your choices, because we are planning our first trip too, but I wanted to say - how exciting! Our DD will be 10 when we go too, such a great age I reckon! We will def try for a Tusker ROL package I think.
In terms of Park fare, we have considered a dinner there, not so keen on a breakfast, as the characters at breakfast don't appeal to us so much as the ugly stepsisters who are supposed to be really funny.

We have our flight there and are getting in at noon. Or ohana reservations are not until 4:45, so it should give us time to get situated, uber over and thenback for a quick swim before bed. Didn't think about heading out of the park for lunch at HS. Might need to look into that. For our last day, We have not booked an extra night yet, but we are doing it in a separate reservation. I don't want to add in an extra day worth of the meal plan when we would be leaving very early the next morning. We will know 6-8 weeks out what our plan is for flight home, so should be enough time in late August to book just a single night at our resort (sports). I don't mind changing rooms for just a night if we can stay at the same resort. We would just need to pay out of pocket for one meal that day.

When are kids were younger (we are empty nesters now) Ohana was great at the beginning of our trip. It was a fun place to get ready for a great week. I think you should have plenty of time provided your flight is not delayed that day, have had that happen 1 time coming in. The only meal we have ever eaten where we said we would not go back ever was at Hollywood and Vine but that was a dinner, I know people really like their breakfasts there. The only thing I could see that I wanted to make sure of before I commented more since this was your first trip, is that you are staying at All Star Sports, a lot of times people do the quick service dining when they stay, are you on that or the regular dining plan? You are planning well in advance and doing your homework, which a lot of first time people do not do, so you will have a GREAT time.

We have the summer meal deal and chose to upgrade to the ddp. Saved us $500 over buying the ddp outright! Or character findings will pay for the upgrade cost, so all of our snacks and qs will be free :)
