With the menu changes at LeCellier I'm wondering if I should change our adr to Coral Reef. LeCellier was our best meal of the trip last year and everyone wanted to return, after making an ADR I found out about the filet with the maple barb. sauce was taken off the menu 3 out of 4 of us were planning on ordering it. None of us like mushrooms which is how the other filet is cooked. I'm wondering if we should go to Coral Reef since I've heard a few people say the steak there is good and the atmosphere is much better. Thanks, Linda :)

We have ate at both. The food is much much better at LeCellier. I have not had a steak at CR however, only seafood. The atmosphere is nice at CR, but it is the same aquarium you can see and walk around in the Living Seas pavilion.

We have enjoyed Le Cellier in the past, then after a very disapointing lunch my family would not go back. We had ressies for LC for another evening so we needed to change it. Called Dining and Coral Reef had an opening so we went for it even though we don't eat seafood! We had a really good steak and great service and our family enjoyed watching the action in the tank too..
We have been back twice since and both times our experience was very good.
Steak was tender and cooked just right, no funky sauce. MY DH is super picky and he is again looking forward to a good meal at CR. We have also tried the chicken and pork here and it was also good.

We've eaten at both ~ CR for lunch and LC for dinner.

We much preferred Coral Reef. :) It was more private, it was quieter, service was better and the portions were larger at Coral Reef.

We ate at both for dinner last September, and honestly it was a tie in service, atmosphere, and food quality--for us, anyway. We all had the steak at Coral Reef and found that it was fantastic.

With picky-eater DS17 and super picky-eater DD16, CR is definitely the favorite place to eat for lunch or dinner. They both love it!!! The steak is great, but the blackened catfish and pepper jack grits is my ultimate favorite!!!

We ate at both of these a few months ago and would select CR over LC. Before this visit I would not recommend CR but it had improved. While we found the hype of LC exceeds the experience.

I have always made it a point to eat at LeCellier on every trip. I'm going in Sept (was planning on it before I got the free dining), and I had my ADR at LeCellier all booked. When my dh decided to go with us, I called Disney Dining and got my ADR for two changed to one for three at the exact same time.
Well, my friend had eaten at LeCellier a month ago, came home with a less than glowing review of the changes that were happening. I thought and thought about it. We had eaten at Coral Reef last summer for the first time and really enjoyed it. So...I got on the phone last week and canceled LeCellier and made an ADR for Coral Reef. I had a great steak there last summer and my picky 14 y/o dd was able to find something to eat as well.
When LeCellier took away my maple glazed filet, well, I was no longer willing to put up with the other menu changes.
THe Disney Dining rep wanted to know why I was canceling LeCellier...she really couln't believe someone would do that. I told her that they had made one too many changed to the menu...I just wasn't going to 'settle' for something I like less.

Is this a joke?

Why would you ask if this is a joke? I've heard good things about Coral Reef but my boys don't like seafood. I have a son with Autism, and I thought he might enjoy eating and watching the fish, I also thought it would keep him amused while waiting for the food. Nothing funny about that! Linda

Thanks for all the feedback, if I can talk DH & DS14 into Coral Reef than I think we will go with that. I've heard many dissers complaining about the menu change at LeCellier, maybe if they get enough complaints they will bring those items back (I can hope can't I). I'm glad I at least know this now instead of when we are already in the restaurant. Linda :)

I ate at Coral Reef twice last year, last time being in December. I ate a steak both times and it was really good.

As a non-seafood eater I loved CR. The steak was great there (and I don't even like steak much either!). It also had a nice relaxing vibe with the deep blue colors and fish swimming by. Definitely a nice break from the heat.

Over the past few years, we have thought Coral Reef is getting better and LeCellier not as good. Coral Reef has a very nice atmosphere too.

When we were getting ready to make our ADR's last year CR was'nt getting very good reviews and LeCellier was so we chose to eat there and enjoyed it. But more recently with the Chef change and the menu change at LC I'm hearing the opposite this year. Linda :)

I was all set with my ADR's and was really looking forward to our lunch at Le Cellier :yay: but after hearing all the disappointing reviews here and on other sites, :sad2: I'm afraid I chickened out and canceled the other day just to book CR. My family has eaten there in the past and was never let down.:woohoo: I'm waiting for a call back from Debi to set up the diver and menus for our birthday vacation!

Ate at both places last Sept and really wondered what all the hype was about LC. It was a good meal but not a place I care to return to anytime soon. The crab legs at CR were excellent and the 5yo DGS with us loved the mahi mahi on the children's menu. Am hoping to get reservations for CR this year but am behind in making them so will probably end up somewhere else.
