LeCellier menu change

That's tonight's Shellfish Allergy 101. :teacher:

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!:flower3:

and i know all about strange looks when dealing w/food allergies... everyone understands a peanut allergy, but no one knows what a tree nut is ('til i tell them... nuts that grow on trees like brazil nuts, walnuts, pecans, pistachios, hazelnuts, etc) i even had a doctor ask for clarification/explanation as he was unfamiliar w/the term... that scared me!

totally off topic and genuinely interested in learning this ('cause i have a niece-in-law allergic to shellfish and always struggle w/appetizers when she's coming for a family gathering as we typically do something shellfishy)

are mussels NOT a shellfish?

thanks :)

They are. I wondered about this too. Some years ago I had a bad reaction after eating schrimp. For years I avoided them. Fast forward I realize I am eating them in eggrolls and didn't know it. Nor was I allergic to them. It wasn't the shellfish which gave me the reaction. The OP should check that out.

Whatever ;)

Of course, three things should be noted for THIS year:
1) Duck is BACK on the menu at Chefs de France
2) At this point, ONLY Disney-owned restaurant are participating in the DDP in 2008. Contracts have not yet been finalized with the other restaurants onsite. This does not mean they will not participate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3) Chefs de France is not Le Cellier and never had maple creme brulee.

It's a great fear that Disney restaurants menus are all getting standardised and basically boring. Last year at Chefs they dropped the duck from the menu and this year it's the creme brulee, what's next!

Mind you Chefs de France is not listed on the 2008 DDP list so we won't be going there anyway, which is a shame as over the years we have always enjoyed it.

I'm I the only person who doesn't care when Disney changes it's menus? It's not as if Le Cellier is now serving only tofu steaks and cookies for dessert. I realize that since people may only go once every year or two they look forward to certain things, but others do like change. Plus chef's like to have some creativity in their menus.

I go to Disney for the theme parks. Yes, I do want nice meals too, but shifting food offerings doesn't affect me. I really don't think there is a danger in all the restaurants becoming similar.

Duck is back!!!!!!!!!!! Yippee. Just hope they sign up for next year as I love the ambience of this restaurant. Thanks you've made my day.

Those mussells at Le Cellier.....so awesome!!

No, thank you. :scared1: I've had my throat close just from being in the room with my parents cooking very fresh shrimp. They never did that again. I'm okay in restaurants that cook crustaceans, although in some I will ask to be seated far from the kitchen. The first time I had a reaction, I was only 10, was eating out with a friend's family and could not even explain what was happening. I didn't go into full-blown shock, but I did feel like my heart was going to explode, my mouth itched and got fluid-filled blisters inside and the whites of my eyes turned yellow. The NEXT time, it was much worse and we figured it out. When I was a teenager, I tried one small bite of lobster and had to eat about a bottle of Benadryl. Lesson learned. I never risked crab.

My family never saw it coming because I have a HUGE family and no one else has ever had a shellfish allergy. Of hundreds of cousins, I alone have it. But the, DH had a co-worker that ate shrimp all his life and only developed an allergy in his 50s. :confused3 But never fear.....the EpiPen goes with me.

We had lunch at Le Cellier this past Sunday and it was excellent. The dessert choices were the chocolate whiskey cake, a mandarin sorbet, apple crumble with granola ice cream, smores, and creme brulee. Not maple, more of just a regular vanilla flavor, but we all agreed it was the best of the desserts we ordered. I had the filet mignon with sweet potato mash, one friend had the butternut squash ravioli, and one had the shrimp/scallop pasta dish. All were great in our opinion. It was one of our best meals. As long as I can have cheddar cheese soup and pretzel bread, I'm a happy camper. :)

We just got back from Le Cellier, and hated it! The waiter was a snob, as soon as we told him we were on the DDP he vacated! We never even had a chance for desert... They are changing this place and a few others, and not for the best I think.

We've never been to LeCellier and have an ADR for dinner for our November trip. I hope we don't have the same waiter! :scared1: I want this to be a good experience for me & my friends! :)

Do they not have the filet mignon with the cream cheese mash potatos anymore?? I was really looking forward to this, but it it comes with sweet potato mash, I'll have to skip it. Don't really care for sweet potatos :headache: .

If you want a great waiter ask if at all possible to eat in Patrick's section. He is wonderful!

Does anybody know what the new vegetarian option at LeCellier is?
