LeCellier am I missing something?

I have never eaten there nor plan to unless I am missing something. I do not mean this as a bash since I have not eaten there I do not know how it is. I do not eat steak. Is it so popular because of the steak or is it something else about the place and I should think of going?

Two things are the ceddar soup and breadsticks and like you we have actually not eaten at this restaurant in the 22+ years of visiting EPCOT, but have rectified that mistake for our upcoming visit this Xmas season. It seems like it's an either LOVE IT or LEAVE IT type thing. OTOH while R&C is nice the menu just is not really my fair

I am answering just for myself......I like the bread that we get there.....the cheddar cheese soup which I have not been able to get elsewhere.....the meat is good and I can get good meat here in maine too.....but we enjoy going there.....I usually go to Le Cellier because we enjoy it...Our grandkids always get the free range chicken... which is very good too.....we just like it...but not everybody likes the same thing.. if we did then we would NEVER ever be able to get in that place...I dont care for Mexico ....but alot of people do.......we have tried to go to a new place and experience it all.....

That is what we thought too, it is just a steak place. Because of all the hype we tried it last Dec...it was wonderful. Excellent filets, fantastic caesar salad and sauteed mushrooms, the cheese soup is good but I dont crave it or anything.

We tried lunch this past Feb and it was awesome too. DH was able to order the BBQ filet (cannot order mushroom because the items are not prepped yet) and I had the beef tips with udon noodles and sauteed veggies..it was to die for.

We didn't really care for it, but then maybe it's because we're not too big on restaurant steaks so we ordered other things. My husband has spoiled me on grilling steaks at home, and he has the best marinade...etc so I haven't found a steak that compares at a restaurant

We ordered the Pork and blechhhh, it was gross. The potatoes with it were way way overseasoned and so we didn't eat those either. I really can't say that the soup or the breadsticks made that big of an impression on me....???

I still think that everyone needs to try every restaurant for themselves though We surely do LOL

It's a place we eat each and every trip. That being said however, we prefer the lunch menu over the dinner menu. We were not impressed by our steaks at dinner for the money. I think honestly we prefer Yachtsmen Steakhouse over Le Cellier for dinner. I always say you gotta try it yourself and form your own opinion because everyone's taste is different. My taste leans to medium rare on this one!!!

I would try it at least once, but we don't care for it. That kind of quality of steak and atmosphere, we can get at home, and it's not anything special for us. I do think the pretzel bread is really good.

Honestly, I don't think you are missing much. My DH is a huge steak person so we went there. I had a hamburger there (nothing special) and he had steak. My dad was with us, but I can't recall what he had. At any rate, when we planned our last trip, we were looking at menus and my DH said "Let's try there this time" I told him we just ate there last time and he had forgotten. The steaks were forgetable obviously, and IMO over priced. The "famous" cheddar soup was so full of onions that I could hardly taste the cheddar. Good thing it was ordered by either my dad or DH because it was so bad for me, I couldn't eat it. The pretzel bread is good though, but I much prefer sourdough over that.

That said, I always say it is worth to try a place once. What I love others might hate and vice versa. I just know this one won't be sought out again by us anytime soon.

I don't eat beef -- I stopped the last time there was a mad cow disease scare. I didn't let that stop me from going to Le Cellier after all the good reviews.

The duck two ways appetizer was the best thing I ate at Disney World, and I loved the bouillabase (spelling?)- the seafood stew. The cherry shortcake dessert was also amazing. The service was also the best we had all week. I also enjoyed the romantic setting!

We tried it for the first time this past May it is the only time my DH has ever raved about a meal. He had the beef tomato stack for an app. and loved it . He's still talking about it. He also loved his meal. He had the filet with maple bbq andthe cream cheese mashed potatoes. He loved it so much he said he could have had a second for dessert. I just looked at him and wondered who are you and what have you done with my husband? I really enjoyed it as well. I had the cheddar cheese soup and really liked it-especially with the bread dipped in it. I had the herb crusted prime rib and the creme brulee for dessert.

We were just there a few days ago and it was our 2nd time trying it. We wouldn't go back. The pretzel bread is good but I can get good pretzel bread at Trader Joe's near home. Dh thought his filet was good, not great. I got the dish with the noodles, can't remember the name. It was ok. I thought the chedder soup was awful. We have better steak places near home. Wouldn't hurt to try it. It wasn't horrible, just not as great as the hype surrounding it made me believe it'd be.

Please, please, please share your marinade!! Can't seem to find one we are satisfied with. I hope it's not a family secret!!

We have eaten at Le Cellier several times. Yes, it's a pretty good restaurant, but IMHO, it's also overrated. I don't go out of my way to get a reservation there, nor am I the least bit upset if we can't get a table. There are plenty of places at Disney that are just as good, and many that are better.

I don't eat steak at all and I enjoyed it. They have very good salmon and also shrimp, if I remember correctly. We also really enjoyed the pretzel breadsticks and the chocolate "moose."

It's not a must do for us, although my teenage dd adores it, but we do enjoy it for lunch occasionally on our trips.

While we enjoyed it, IMHO it is overrated. We're big steak lovers, too. The food was okay, the atmosphere was nothing special, our server was nice, but the whole experience took far too long and was just not worth the cost (even on the DDP).

Quite honestly, I don't think you are missing much. We had lunch at LeCellier a couple of years ago and it was fine - nothing special. Cheddar Cheese Soup was good, but not the best soup I've ever had. The breadsticks were fine - nothing to write home about. We thought the atmosphere was a little gloomy.

I think it's overrated.

We just ate there on our trip last week and enjoyed it very much. All three of us had the BBQ filet w/ cream cheese mashed potatoes and the cheddar cheese soup. The soup was wonderful - just the thing I'd love to have on a cold winter day and the meals were excellent. That being said, we did have the pleasure of eating at several other restaurants that impressed us much more than Le Cellier did. (Brown Derby, Coral Reef, and many others) No complaints about Le Cellier, but I wouldn't be heartbroken if I was unable to get an ADR there again

DS10 and I ate at Le Cellier this summer for the first time. It was a great fit for us, and we'd definitely go there again for lunch, even if we had to pay "full price" (ie, not DDP).

Why did we like it so much? It was DS10's first satisfactory experience with "fine dining," and the server was extremely helpful. DS10 has a very limited palette (he has neurological conditions, I've given up on trying to understand what his taste buds are doing), and our CM had a very plain burger made for him that was off-menu. The chocolate milkshake had whipped cream and a cherry on top! So, when he tried the creme brulee and hated it, he didn't even mind because he'd enjoyed himself so much.

So much about him, what about me? I had the caesar salad Scopa Special (NY strip steak), which was just fine. No big deal, I've had better but I've had far worse. Plus I really liked the low-key, relaxing atmosphere. We could chat and relax and just enjoy being pampered a little bit.

All that being said . . . as much as we enjoyed it, I don't think it quite deserved the level of obsessive dedication it seems to get on these boards sometimes.

We tried it for the first time this year in July, we were there for lunch. My kids, 7 and 10, are culinary adventurists and loved it. They enjoyed trying new things and loved the cheese soup and bread.

Hubby is not a steak eater, but enjoyed his sandwich.

I had the filet, as it is my favorite steak. It was by far the best one I've ever had. It was the most tender steak I've ever had and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I swear, I can block out all other distractions and just enjoy that first bite.

Service was OK, nothing to write home about. Same with the atmosphere for us.

I think the lunch menu was a good fit for our family, and I checked both menus before I made the ADRs. That was a good plan for our family.

We're going back in October and it took me 2 weeks to get the ADR. It will be our last meal for our trip, and for me a great way to end what I am sure will be a fun time.

1) Yep.
2) This is actually how the professional reviewers feel.
3) It is a good place, but overrated.
4) A lot of people just "get on the bandwagon" for its praises.
5) Compared to other steakhouses (Ruth Chris', Morton's), it comes off lacking.
. . . tables so close, you feel like part of the family at the next table
. . . rushed atmosphere, where they ask you to order the meal at same time
. . . as many WDW eateries, a lot of their food & dessert is bought, not made
