Lebron James to Chicago Bulls

I like the Bulls. Thought the Boston/Chicago games were great. They just need somebody huge like Lebron to have a shot at the Finals.

Noah needs experience, as does pretty much the entire team, but I stand by what I said, Lebron could certain bring the team together for a shot at the Finals. I mean, who ever expected the Magic to make it?

I am done with Cleveland sports. How can we be taken to the edge time and time again only to bail at the end. This city needs just one win. The economy has taken it's toll, it really would have done alot for the morale in this town. Bye Bye LeBron. I never was much of a fan.

He can go anywhere he wants if they would all just shut up about him!!!!

He is no Jordan, Magic or Bird - no ring - no king!

Although we here in Boston are certainly fond of him LOL.

LeBron is not going anywhere. Its always about the money & Cleveland can offer him the most.

I couldn't disagree more. First off ..there is a salary cap. So if he's going to play where his earnings potential is greatest as you say....he will be a Knick. Cleveland can't offer endorsements (where most earnings come from) anywhere near what New York can.

I remember hearing David Stern speaking about LeBron's free agency and had this to say:

Stern helped negotiate the current collective bargaining agreement, which provides teams the ability to pay more and add an extra year for their own free agents. Stern is hopeful that will allow teams such as Cleveland to retain its stars.

Cleveland can pay him more, plus he's from there. That has to count for something.

I stopped caring about the teams here years ago. If anyone wants LeBron they can have him.

He isn't from here, he is from Akron. It's close but no one claims Akron is Cleveland unless it is to spin that LeBron is a local, I call shenanigans.

Yes I know he's from Akron. I am not from Cleveland, but the "greater" Cleveland area. I still count them as my home team. I guess that is what I was trying to get across.

I'm from Canton (DH's company actually does Lebron's landscaping) and LBJ has always said that Akron would love him/be behind me no matter what he did or where he went. I thought it was very odd he always said Akron, not Cleveland. I took that to mean that his high school fans from when he played in Akron would always be his fans, but that all of us who have been loyal Cleveland fans were getting the shaft. I thought for sure DH was going to start hurling things at the TV last night!

I know I'm tired of getting my hopes up with Cleveland teams year after year only to be let down over and over. No wonder Cleveland is always at the top of the "most miserable cities" list.

I have to agree with this...

Nike will continue to endorse him in NY or Cle - time will tell.....

Of course they will but I can guarantee Nike wants him in a larger market just like they want all of their athletes in larger markets. Most, and probably LeBron too, have clauses in their contracts that adjust compensation to market size.

As a Clevelander it is pretty depressing when you hear all of these people worried about the economic impact of on player on one team. We should be concentrating on getting business here, like the world headquarters of Fortune 500 companies, and doing something about our riverfront. We are in danger of bleeding direct flights out of here because of the Continental merger and that is getting less press coverage then a guy who throws a ball through a hoop. We, as a city, just think way too small and that is why we lead the depressed lists and have the zip code with the highest foreclosure rate, not because our sports teams don't win.

If LBJ signs a long-term contract, Cleveland can pay him roughly 30M more. LBJ makes about 50M a year from endorsements alone. You think he's gonna stay on a team that doesn't win for 5+ years just so he can pocket an extra 30 when he could make 10 times that in additional endorsements in Chicago? That would make no sense.

And the dude is not completely money driven. He wants to win and there is no better situation than Chicago with a legit all star point guard who can get LBJ the ball pretty much whenever he so chooses.
