We'll have a long layover so won't get to Oahu till tomorrow. But still, can't wait! T-24. :) This is our 2nd trip to Aulani. I really just need some good poke and beer and we'll be all set.
Doing my happy dance now.:flower:

Awesome have a wonderful time! I tried poke for the first time last week at Sushi Bay in Kapolei and I cant stop thinking about it, it was fantastic!

poke (pronouned poh-kay) is basically raw fish, usually ahi, marinated in stuff. *stuff depends on the restaurant. It's amazing, even for people who don't like sushi, or think they don't like sushi, you should try it.

Is it rolled like sushi?
Or like big slab of fish on plate?:o
Thanks
Kerri

Usually poke is fairly small/bite sized cubes. The reason I decided to try it at Sushi Bay was because no one else in the family wanted to and the restaurant had small plate portions. I think it was like $2.50 for two wrapped rice with poke on top. I LOVED it, it was sooo tender without being mushy.

Pretty much like this, just about everywhere you go. Sometimes a little smaller, sometimes a little larger (I like smaller better). And like alohamom said, it's not at all mushy. I thought it was going to be mushy/slimy and it's not. It's really tender, melt in your mouth tender. You almost don't have to chew it at all, but still it isn't mushy. It has some firmness. It's very hard to explain.
