Finishing up the packing and getting ready to head out EARLY tomorrow morning!

I am stressing over what to pack - lows in the mid to high 50's and highs in the low 70's. Lot's of cloudy/showers the latter part of trip. Will we be fine in shorts etc or will we be needing jeans mostly?

Is there anything I can do for my DH and DS who will be celebrating birthdays during our trip. The trip in itself will be special and we are doing Chef Mickey's on DS's Birthday. But is there maybe a little something waiting in our room as a special birthday surprise?

I asked this in a separate thread but didn't get any responses - we have decided at the last minute to rent a double stroller. We can get the city mini - will that fit a 5 y/o comfortably? (45 inches tall and skinny)

For some of the signature restaurants - will my DH and DS (2.5 and 5) need slacks or will they be fine in nice shorts with a nice collared shirt?

Is there anything else I need to do before we leave?
I have confirmed transportation, I am going to call and confirm all ADR's (they messed one up and now I am nervous - want to make sure they are all correct!)
THANKS!
I am so nervous and don't want to forget anything. I feel like I am overpacking and I am not usually an overpacker.

Relax. I cann't answer the weather questions, as I have never gone this time of year. We have gone in Nov & Dec with temps dipping into the low 60's. When that happened we were always comfy in shorts with a sweatshirt or light jacket, (even after sundown).

Regarding birthdays, I know they used to have birthday pins at the main central of each park. For example if you went to city hall at the magic kingdom & told them it was a birthdya, they would give each bday person a special pin. Just ask a cast member when you get to each park, they will be able to direct you.
Mention that you are celebrating a double birthday at check in and when you confirm your ADR's. If you have already confirmed ADR's tell them when you check in at the restaurant, and maybe mention it to your server.

Have a great time. Remember, although noone wants to spend more than they have to, usually if you forget something you can purchase it there(although usually expensive).

some of the things I have forgotten in the past:
camara (yeah left it right on the table...at home) My brother fedex'd it to us.
sunscreen
sunglasses
sneakers (just wore sandals all week)
hairbrush
sweatshirt (good excuse to buy a new one)
my planning book (forgot that in the car because I was reading it on the way to the airport...duh)

Anyway, just don't forget airline tix, license, park tickets, confirmation #'s, prescription meds, eye wear (maybe copy of rx too), camara, cell phone&chargers, jewelry that may be important for you to wear there, oh yeah and the husband & kid(s) (although sometimes.....)

Have a wonderful time!!!!

Well, I'm jealous!!! LOL. I wish we were going tomorrow.

Bring a sweatshirt/hoodie for the night time esp if they are expecting wind.

When we did our son's birthday at Disney they had a birthday card from Mickey in the room and a photopass card in there (on the back is a discount code). They also gave him a free cupcake at each meal and a birthday card signed by the characters at the meal (if it was a character dining).

I dont know if you know this, but the Travel Channel is showing a disney special in about 40min.

Did you get your mail, newspaper, etc on hold?

We needed gloves the last time we were there and it was cool. My kids wore their jeans almost everyday. DD even wore sundresses with a long sleeved t and jeans along with her hoodie. Rope drop is very cold when it's 48 degrees or less. Just bring 2 of everything, 2 jeans, 2 long sleeved, 2 short sleeved, 2 shorts. Then bring 1 hoodie or fleece, pair of gloves, and laundry detergent for washing if necessary. Enjoy!

It was 41 in Orlando this morning. Definitely bring jeans and hoodies....better to have them then pay Disney prices!!!

You will probably NOT get a surprise in your room. The "What Will you Celebrate" promotion is over but even when it was going on and they were telling you when you made your ressies that you might have a surprise....more people didn't get them than did. DD didn't. But that certainly didn't ruin the magic. Most of the TS restaurants will give you a card or cupcake. In general, Disney has REALLY cut back all the "extras" for people celebrating. More that word got out that people get stuff for celebrating...more of those buttons you would see in the parks ;)

I would bring slacks for the signature dining. You don't necessarily NEED them (except for like Victoria and Alberts) but they BLAST the AC in the restaurants.

Make sure to pack plenty of ponchos just in case

Don't know about the stroller thing. My DD was about 49 inches on this trip and was able to use her Mac (we only used it 2 nights so it was huge waste to bring it but that's another story!). I'm thinking you should be fine.

You are going to have so much fun! We just went in February and celebrated a birthday!

Here are some answers for you:
Clothes: Stick with jeans for the most part. Take hoodies or fleece pull-overs for night time as it does get cooler. You will find the heat on in most buildings, so going from outside to inside you might get warm and hoodies are a little easier to take off in this case. If you are real cold natured, you will want to bring at least one warm jacket, just in case. (I ended up letting my older sister borrow my fleece to wear under her jacket! I like it cold, she definitely likes hot weather.)

Birthdays! First, if you are staying on-site, make sure you have included on your reservation with WDW the fact your are celebrating a birthday. Also tell all of your ADRs. If you are staying on site, when you check-in the CM should give a celebration button, if not ask for it. If you are staying off-site, go to guest services and ask for it. WEAR IT or put it on the table when you dine. Your child will usually get a celebration cupcake and may even get something additional at the character dining experiences, like a signed birthday card from the characters!

Second, consider ordering a special birthday cake in your child's favorite character on your child's birthday. You have to order custom cakes 24 hours in advance by calling the cake line or the restaurant you are dining at directly. You can also request a more generic, pre-made cake when you check-in for your dinner ressie.

Third, for something special in the room, call the Disney Florsit or visit them on-line. They have lots of special offerings that can be delivered directly to your room for a special surprise.

Most Signature restaurants, especially in the parks, will allow jeans and nice shorts. Even California Grill will allow jeans. The only signature restaurant with a strict dress code is Victoria & Albert's.

Before, you leave,...just make sure you carry with you a copy of your reservations, including your dining reservations.

You are going to have so much fun! It's time to relax and enjoy all the work you have put into planning your trip!

We also arrive tomorrow! We are packing a mix....shorts and t-shirts for during the day, jeans and sweatshirt for night time if needed. :) Enjoy your trip!

Thanks everyone! Still have errands to run - nothing like waiting till the last minute!

Can you wear distressed jeans to California grill/Yachtsman? I would only like to bring one pair and the most comfy pair is distressed.

I would go with the fleece. We just were there at the beginning of Feb and it was much cooler than I expected (or packed for). Next time, I'm bringing the extra layer b/c a sweatshirt just didn't cut it in the cool weather and rain (and I'm from PA)...
