Leaving park and returning later

We are going to WDW in late Sept. as well. With all the talk about planning, I am wondering if it is a problem to come to a park, leave and return later without having to pay for parking again? We will be staying offsite and returning to the hotel midday for some pool/nap time sounds like a great idea.

I can hardly wait until we are there!

i would see what the hours are for your timeframe before committing to leaving. it's not such a great idea if the park closes at 7pm, you'll waste too much time. (offseason we don't take the afternoon break)

i've only stayed offsite once but if i remember correctly they give you a parking pass when you pay that is good for all day, all parks so you only pay once.

Good point about the shorter hours. I'll be sure to check which parks are open later before making any impulsive decisions.

Thanks Kim

If you do choose to leave returning isn't a problem. As the above poster pointed out, the parking pass is good for the entire day and at any park. So, if you go to MK in the morning, take a break and return, you can choose to go to Epcot in the evening with the same parking pass.

Thanks jcemom. I think I've just added another option to my itinerary.

Location of the hotel makes a big difference, as well. Years ago, we booked a quick trip to DW that included hotel, car, etc. It was touted as being close to Disney. With moderate traffic, it was at least 30 - 40 minutes away. Our nap plans for our toddler went out the window.

Also, it is never easy to get out and back into the Magic Kingdom because of the travel time to the TTC. If we leave there, we normally go to one of the other parks in the afternoon or evening. Or we start at another and go the MK after the break.

I agree that depending on your hotel and hours, returning to your hotel might be more time than is worth taking. When we are at WL we often return for a rest, but even when we were at All Stars, several years ago, we found it took a lot of time. There are however lots of good ideas for breaks with out going back to the hotel. One is a LONG monorail ride. Just get on and ride in the cool while you rest. A sit down lunch in the park, or a monorail resort for MK or Epcot, can be a nice break. Also from MK, a boat ride over to FW, and lunch at Trails End is a break that is wonderful. There are also lots of shady places in all the parks that you can just park it and people watch a while. If you have little ones, check out the baby centers.
I have not stayed off site since I was a kid but i still remember going back to the hotel once and it took like 4 hours to have a hour at the hotel. . Good luck.
