Hi,

We'll be at WDW in early December. We have purchased Park Hoppers this year which doesnt include DQ. My kids love DQ and I do too, but not enough to stay all day. Since we are paying for the DQ ticket this year we need to get our monies worth and the boys will have no problem doing this.

For those with older kids, what is the age you let your kids stay at WDW on their own? My boys will be 13 and 11 by then. My oldest, VERY responsible. My youngest, still needs some work. Do you think it would be okay to leave them there for a little while? They stay at home by themselves for an hour or two, but WDW is different. We'll either shop or go back to the resort which is close (SSR).

Please don't flame me... just checking what age you started leaving your kids on their own or sorta on their own.

Thanks,
Deb

My husband and I let our 3 kids, 11, 13, and 15 stay inside DQ alone in the fall while we sat outside across the way at House of Blues. We walked around the area alittle as well. My kids stuck together and had their cell phones on them so they could call us whenever they needed to do. We had gone inside for a while, but I got bored, so we left to spend time on our own. It worked out very well and next time I'll just buy passes for the kids.

I think only kids under 10 need adult supervision. Yours should be fine if they stick together and arrange a meeting place if they get separated, especially since you have a responsible older one.

I am from a major city and am VERY paranoid so we didn't leave our kids until they were older teens, but yours should be fine, as I have seen many younger teens there by themselves. I would strongly suggest they have a cell phone or walkie talkies so you can reach them and they can reach you at any time. Also I would tell then that even if they are bored do not leave DQ and go out into DD until they are sure you are waiting for them at the exit. I do not like the idea of young kids walking alone especially at night around West Side. We are planning to buy our kids DQ annual passes for our next trips and hubby and I are buying PI annual paases for ourselves. I'm sure your kids will be fine and will have a blast!!

ENJOY!!

Where do you get annual passes for DQ? I've looked for them on all the sites but could not find any. I thought I had seen them in the past. Do you know how much they are? My 11 year old grandson loves DQ. We had UHP last visit so he could go more than once. Would love to do that again. We left him along but with his 10 year old sister and and her 11 year old friend. We gave them one cell phone and we kep one.

We left the teenagers this summer. Ages 15, 14, and 13.We walked around the Marketplace while they were there and they were given one of our cell phones <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/19/19_2_14.gif' border=0></a>while there; they called us when they were done.

We had planned on leaving DS 12 and his friend 10 there the year before while we walked around the Marketplace, but we had planning issues that made it impossible to work it in.<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_5_132.gif' border=0></a>

DQ gives me a headache<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_7_6.gif' border=0></a>, so I am glad DS is old enough to go without an adult now.

I'm looking at your post, scratching my head, wondering why you'd want to leave your kids alone at DAIRY QUEEN!!!! I get it now. Have a great day!!!!

I have had no problems leaving my DS at DQ while I shop. They should be fine at that age.
Have fun!

LOL!!! I keep thinking the same thing every time I see this thread!

Would you leave them alone at the mall arcade? Just because it's WDW doesn't make it any safer than anywhere else.

I'm 12 and I love DQ - its the best place to go on DD. (DisneyBee's 12 year old son)
