Leaving July 11th-18th..when to fax room requests?

Hi all.....we will be at Disney from July 11-18th.....splitting our stay between AKL and BWVs....when do you fax over your room requests? I heard most people say no earlier then 5 days prior? Is this true???

That would mean sending it over either Sunday July 6th or Monday July 7th......
