Leaving items for charater signatures with Service Desk

We were on the Dream last week and were able to get our items signed. I did ask the person at Guest Services if it was true that they were going to discontinue this service and she said that they were, but she didn't know when.
Now I also saw many people carrying around their items and having the characters sign them themselves, so that's always an option.

I hope not! This is just one magical detail that makes Disney cruises so special.

Does anybody know how many items you are currently allowed to get signed ? I really agree I really hope they keep this magic detail ! Having the kids see it in your room makes it so special !

It's two items per stateroom but I have read that they may sign more if you have more than two kids. I wish someone can confirm this. But typically two items per stateroom.

We go on a Double Dip Cruise (5 days) very soon!!! Fingers crossed they sign our photo-mat. But a logistical question: do you have to use sharpies? How many are you supposed to give them?

We have four kids and travel in two staterooms on the Fantasy. We were able to get a pillowcase signed for each child plus a photo mat. So maybe they try to do one item per child and then a "family" item, but we did get more than 2 items per stateroom signed. Maybe we were just very lucky!

You don't have to use sharpies but I think some type of permanent ink is most common to make it last and minimize smudging. You can provide several different colors. I can't imagine that they appreciate being given too many markers since they are probably signing so many items and having to keep track of everyones pens! I know I used a set of bright pastel shades (4?) for the pillowcases and just a red and blue for the photo mat. But if you prefer just a single color, you can do that too. I'm not aware of any requirement about the markers or numbers.

We just did it on June 20 cruise to norway. Left 5 pillowcases and one Tshirt. Got them all back on last day.

We were on the Magic for 7 days at the end of April and had no problems. We left the item along with a bag of candy at Guest Services and our stateroom host delivered it back to our room the night before we disembarked. I have read recently that some cruisers are having problems on the shorter sails with Guest Services refusing to accept the items on the 3 day cruises.

Same experience here. Left candy, markers, and two 5x7 frames for signatures and the items were returned before disembarking (Jan'15 7nt WC).

we got two items signed on our 7-night alaskan cruise on the wonder last week. had choice of a) the fab 5, b) princesses, or c) all available. chose C and my wish was granted.

We had a t-shirt and a photo mat signed on our Fantasy cruise in June. We got Mickey, Minnie, Daisy, Donald, Pluto, Goofy, and Chip & Dale. Didn't want princesses. Since so many people report that they give candy, I put in lots of snack-sized bags of pretzels and cheese nips.

I'd recommend dropping them off on embarkation day. The most common items to have signed are photo mats, pillowcases, t-shirts, tote bags. There is a thread around here somewhere discussing different items people have had signed.

We cruised on the Fantasy in May. Left a big dis story book, bday card, a bunch of sharpies, and a big bag of twizzlers with a thank you note on the first night of the cruise. They were delivered to our room earlier than expected (day 4 or 5). We then took the book to get more signatures like tinkerbelle and peter pan.

We had a letter/ two bags of M& M's (plain & peanut)/ and 20 different colors of sharpies/
2 black sharpies that had a regular tip & fine tip.
The letter stated, please enjoy M & M' s and have everyone sign our plate as you will...

we dropped ours off on Day 2 and our room hostess left it on our bed on Day 7.

btw on the form you fill out at guest services we had the options of 1) princesses, 2) the fab 5, or 3) all available. we chose the last one and it was fantastic.
