Hello,
I am going to WDW in about 3 weeks and my daughter has about 60 pins to trade. She has a large album that is full but we were going to go to WDW in december and we bought a lot of pins on clearance at the disney store to trade. We didnt go then so she has looked forward to trading since then. She is 12 and really enjoys trading for tinkerbell pins. She trades mostly for the pins that she likes and not about value. Could someone please tell me where in WDW are the best places to trade. Last year we were at the village and went to the pin store the 2nd day it was opened and it was great. The only problem is that some of the adult traders who hover around there are obnoxious. I have heard about "scoops" and "cast pins" and would like to know what these are and if they really matter to someone who trades for fun. Any help would be great.

Scott in MA.

Hi Scott,

Trading pins is a geat way to meet people as well as collecting something. There are opportunities all over WDW, with MK being great for kid traders. At MK they even have special hot pink lanyards that only children can trade from. It is in MK that you will find " Scoop Sanderson" who is the ambassador of pin trading.

Sun-Wed at 1p.m. he gives a great pin talk in Exposition Hall. This is where Tony's Town Square restaurant and the Kodak Camera Center are. If you go all the way to the back you will see his table and display. He is extremely informative as well as hilariously funny and both you and your daughter will learn a great deal. Scoop also has his own pin that he grants to people and maybe you will be lucky enough to be awarded one. Don't go expecting one....this is a " magical moment" and it will be given when you least expect it.

As for cast pins....there are "lanyard pins"...that is pins that are not for sale that can only be found on CM lanyards. There are over 100 in this series and pictures can be found on Pinpics.com.

There are other pins that CM's can either purchase at the company store or earn for service that can occasionally be found on lanyards. Go to Scoops seminar, ask lots of questions of any trader you happen to find and you will learn quickly.

I will be down in WDW myself at the end of June....when are you going? If we are there at the same time I would be more than happy to give your daughter a crash course in pin trading. Let me know.

Good luck!

Linda
