It's nothing too bad yet. I posted over the weekend and got some good advice. We've both been taking ZiCam. I think it's helping some. I just started feeling sick last night (Sun.). My ears are hurting and have a sore throat. :guilty: My DD(7) has a stuffy nose. She's going in to the dr. tomorrow just to get checked and make sure she's ok to go. I'm mostly worried about the plane ride and our ears, especially since mine already hurt!
Think I should see a dr too? I'm planning on taking Sudafed and I may try those Earplanes. I notice on the box it says to plug your nose and blow, I just can't imagine doing that without it hurting, can you just put them in your ears without doing that? I can't find the kids size anywhere.
Anyone have any other advice? :confused3 We need to get better fast!

:tinker: Pixie dust your way! Hope you are feeling much better soon. You may need some antibiotics if you have a sinus infection. I would go to the doc just to be on the safe side.

My DH, the chemistry teacher, tells me to chew 500 m. Vitamin C and place it between my lip and gums--you know the "chew" area. He says the Vitamin C will go straight to your blood system--just like the nicotine does from chewing tobacco. Takes a little bit to disolve there, but seems to make a difference for me in recovery time. If you can't do this, then taking 1000 m of Vitamin C will also help.

I wouldn't mess around. Leaving in 3 days? I'd would go see a doctor.

The same thing happened to me last year. A few days before the trip....saw the doctor....got meds for sinus infection and was fine for the trip.

If you do need meds, they take a day or two to get into your system, so I would start now.

GOOD LUCK and have a great trip!!

Get to the doctor! You don't want to get to Dis and be in your room most of the time feeling miserable.

We are leaving on Wednesday and I've been suffering with my allergies for two months. I finally went to my doctor last week to get on medications for my hay fever. The meds started working the first day (thankfully).

A 2 day bug tore through my family a few weeks ago. The first day was brutal, but by the end of the 2nd day everyone was much better. Just alot of gatorade, water, flat gingerale and crackers.

Hope everyone feels better soon!!!

and we leave in 4 days..HUBBY went this am to the DRS...He has a SINUS &And & EAR Infection.....$50.00+ later for meds hes off to take his 1st dose!!! DONT WAIT**

GOOOO!!!!!!

Thanks for the all the advice, I had already called and I am going today at 1:10 p.m. My DD is going tomorrow. I was feeling like a baby for going to the dr. (I never go, I usually suffer through it). But, I just don't want to be sick for our trip! Hope I can get something for it. I'm also going to get some of those Earplanes everyone is talking about, still hoping to find some in kids sizes.
I'm trying to get more sleep, but last night for some reason I just couldn't, I was up til midnight and had to get up at 5:15 a.m. for work! Maybe tonight! I'll keep you posted! :)

My last two trips to Disney I was sick. THe one in 2001, we all got sick vomiting and more and I lost 6 lbs while I was there.
Then we took the disney cruise, and I was sick with a terrible cough and cold, then got seasick the first few days.
My motto is "it's not a vacation unless someone vomits".
SOunds awful but every trip we go on someone is sick. We are fine all the days before and after but not on the trip.
So as someone who has experience with being sick, I very much hope you are all better before you go.
If you are not, disney was wonderful to us, offering to bring soup, etc.

wish me luck, I am leaving in 25 days and so far everyone is healthy!!!

Hope you and DD feel better soon. Of my three my middle DD always get sick before going on a trip. The last was going to Bermuda this summer. The day before we left she starts vomiting, other than that she feels perfectly fine. If we weren't going away I would have let her ride the "stomach bug" out. Since we were going away I took her in and low and behold it was a strep throat. She started the antibiotics and was fine by the time we left. With a trip looming it is always better to be safe.

Have a magical trip and get well.

You sound like me :) I get up at 5:15 am to get ready for work as well on the days I take my DS4 to Pre-school. Today and tomorrow, I'm getting up at the same time since DH is currently in Dis for a conference. Wednesday I'll be getting up a little earlier so I can make sure all the luggage and everything is taken care of before I get my son up to tell him where he is going.

I am leaving in 2 days and felt under the weather on weekend. My tips --

Get loads of rest (hard to do when planning a trip!)
Eat loads of garlic
Tylenol (nighttime for flu) helps for me
Drink Chai - they have it at Starbucks
Vitamin C
Lots of water

Hope you guys feel better! :thumbsup2

We leave on Saturday and I have been sick for 3 weeks! Started with bronchitis, got my antibiotic about 1 1/2 weeks ago, and just as that was getting better, my MIL came to visit and brought us a wicked cold germ. I was really starting to freak out--tried everything--Mucinex, Zicam, tons of liquids. As a last resort to telling my DD that I couldn't go, I went to Target on Saturday and got 500 mg of Vitamin C in a pill that you swallow--don't chew. It supposedly has something in it that makes sure your body really absorbs the vitamin rather than flushes it.

Its Monday and I feel 100% better--I'm not totally well....but like I told my DH--I could go to the parks feeling like this. By Sat, I'm sure I'll be 100%. But I'm totally taking that Vit C until I get back!

Good luck--and keep us posted!

Well I'm back from the dr., they didn't give me a prescription, said I just have a cold. That's kind of what I figured, it had seemed a little better before I went. But they flushed out my ears, they were all full of wax - yuck! And now I have a horrible headache! So, I'm hoping tomorrow after some sleep I'll feel better! If not, I'm seriously considering canceling.
My DD seems better, she's just really tired. I don't know how we'll do if we're both so tired. And of course, dummy me, :sad2: I booked an early flight and we have to leave our house at 4:15 a.m. on Thursday. We'll probably end up tired and sicker than dogs! I said, maybe we can just take it easy while we're there and not stay up so late. I had planned to do rope drops all 3 days, but we'll see! UGGHHH! Don't know what to do! :confused3
My DD goes to the dr tomorrow, we'll see what they say. I did find Earplanes for both of us, which my dr recommended and she said take a decongestant/antihistamine, so if we go I'll do that. I sure hope we get better and fast. I'm drinking lots of oj and taking Zicam, I'll hope for the best. Thanks to you all again! I'll keep you posted. If anyone has any other suggestions/advice please let me know.

I'm tellin' ya' massive Vit. C and maybe some Zinc. You will bounce back much faster. I also take Nyquil at night. Something about that stuff really helps. I had a bad cold last Sunday. Took NyQuil two nights and Vitamin C....was feeling better by Tuesday.

I sure hope you feel better soon. :sunny:
