We leave Nov. 6, and on previous trips in December, we have really been COLD. (and I'm from ND!! Guess we should've packed better because those $100 jackets and $20 hat/mitten sets have never been worn since!! :scared1:)
So what should we pack more of, shorts or jeans?? How has the temp been recently? And will the ocean be tolerable right now? (doing the gulf coast area again too).
Thanks so much. Sad that I'm already working on packing!! :rotfl:

At this time of year, it is so unpredictable! We are going at Thanksgiving time like we having several times before. I always think its going to be much warmer and end up buying a jacket while I'm down there!!! In FLORIDA!! Of course, coming from ND, you may have a much higher tolerance for the cool weather than myself... My husband teases me. I'd say be on the safe side and bring both!

yes - to both. even if it warms up during the day, it will likely be cool at night. i always pack for both cold and warm weather when we go (sept, oct, nov, dec and jan are our usual months) and we make use of most everything that we bring.

I usually fly there in jeans and for that time of year were capris! One or two pr. of shorts....we do laundry there, so that's enough for us. I do tee-shirts and add a jacket at night...Nov is lots warmer than Dec/Jan....at least it was for us.

I'd bring 1 or 2 pairs of jeans and the rest shorts. We have gone 3 times this time of year. Once in Oct and totally wore shorts the entire time. One of the times in Nov was totally nice 85 the entire time and nice in the evening, our last trip in 07 was barely 75-80 and very cool at night, so I was thankful for the jeans and sweatshirts.
:thumbsup2

How about 2 or 3 pairs of board shorts for your kids, capris for you and 2 or 3 pairs of jeans or lightweight pants along with hoodie sweatshirts. Considering that we are still wearing sandels and sweatshirts here in North Dakota and its around 30 degrees.

We are going the end of january - middle of February and that is what I have packed for us and we will be doing the gulf coast too.I'm just trying to figure out if winter jackets are needed for the drive.

Both and bring a jacket unless you're in the market for a $65 hoodie! We went last April and had to buy hoodies because we just weren't ready! You will most likely need the hot weather clothes, but it can turn with no warning.

We're leaving on the 5th of November. I've been checking weather.com and so far their 10 day forecast is predicting rain and mid 80's. We're wearing jeans and tee's with a jacket on the plane there and back (coming from Michigan). I plan to take capri's and mostly t's with a few sweaters for evening. We've worn out our old Disney rain ponchos so we'll probably be buying new ones this trip.

I just keep telling myself "A bad day at Disney is better than a good day at the office!" :goodvibes

I would skip the regular shorts and bring capris/board shorts. We went Thanksgiving 2 years ago and the temps really varied. Most mornings when we left for the parks, we had on capris and were quite chilly.

We also had on sweatshirts and sometimes jackets at all times. I think I wore jeans for that entire trip. I just deal better with being hot than cold.

My best advice would be to layer. Bring a pair of shorts and a tank or 2 in case there is some very warm weather but other wise prepare for the cooler temps.

We had a beautiful day here today in Central FL.!
It's still in the mid 80's in the day! But cool at night!I would pack T's, longer shorts, capri's, & at least 1 or 2 pr. of jeans or pants! As for a jacket, maybe a light on, but maybe try to wait another day or so. I think a "cool off" is coming! And you can not forget about the RAIN! Also, if you get really stuck Orlando has a ton of stores!!!

I hope you have a wonderful trip!

We must have gotten lucky back in Feb when we bought our hoodies (we were told it would be warm). My jacket was like $35, the kids' hoodies were $10 each, and DH's hoodie was $20. Our gloves were like $5 though.

We arrive a few days behind you and are planning on 2pairs of jeans per person, 2 pairs of shorts for the kids, jogging pants for the kids, capris for me, and maybe a pair of khakis for DH. That is what was told to me by a friend who is stationed down in FL right now. I would say on sunday check the 10day weather outlook from Weather.com though and see what they say as far as temps. I know when we went from ND (Grand forks) to TX (El Paso) we got here and were wearing shorts in 60*F temps, but after adjusting now I wear pants and long sleeves at 60*F, so deff what you think you would be comfortable wearing.

We arrived in the middle of a heat wave on Oct 12th. I love the heat, but it was oh so humid too. Made wearing clothes a bit sticky. However, by the end of the week and after a cold front, the humidity disappeared and so did the temps. We were happy for the jeans and long sleeve tees I brought. I did pack sweaters, but didn't bring them to the park because I thought it would warm up more. I was really close to buying a sweatshirt that day. I agree with a pp.... LAYER! You really never know from one day or hour to the next.

DD and I leave a week from today! I checked the weather (we're there Nov. 2-6) and it says 82-84 degrees with 0-10% chance of rain. We're packing light to save luggage fees, but coming from Ontario in the fall weather, we're wearing jeans, t's and zip-up hoodies, and then packing capris, t's, tanks and one sweater. That should be fine, and we'll do laundry one day if we find we're wearing the jeans more than we thought.
Have a great time!

I live in Fort Myers and let me tell you....it's been one HOT Fall.....we have only had 3 cool nights. My family and I were just up at the Wine and Food Festival in Oct and it was HOTTER then when we were there in Sept. for our DD B-Day. It was so hot my hubbie nearly passed out from heat stroke.

So best advice.....pack shorts and zip up sweathshirt and 2 pairs of jeans!

I live between Tampa and Orlando and it has been very hot here. We are running way above normal for temps this time of year and there is no way I could wear jeans right now. The highs for the next week are supposed to be in the mid to high 80s.

I would bring longer shorts and a pair or two of pants just in case the weather turns cooler.

This is really helpful for me to read since we are leaving halloween day to arrive in florida on sunday night.

I might be rethinking some of my packing

I've been packing and unpacking since this weekend ... am leaving in the morning and am STILL not sure what to pack, lol!!!

I packed my granddaughter's bag on Saturday based on a forecast that had temps dropping into the 70s over the weekend, now temps are suppose to be 86-87°, so I took out the extra pair of demin capris and added 3 pairs of shorts.

Added my Disney mini-fan to my list this morning.

Now I'm thinking that maybe I'd better put those denim capris back in the bag just in case. At any rate I figure we're going to be chilly heading for the airport ... denim capris and light fleece zip-ups, as the morning temps here in Northern VA have been in the low 40's, but are going to melt once we hit FL's predicted 90° weather.

What happened to that nice 70-75° weather I was expecting???

We were there last November and I wore jeans and t-shirts during the day, adding a light jacket at night. It was pretty cool while we were there, and we ended up buying a big fleece blanket in the park to wrap around the kids in the stroller. Then again, I remember one night we were heading out with our jackets and blankets and there were people in the pool! Steam was rising off the water and we just laughed. Different cold tolerances for different people!

Just spoke to my sister who lives in Port Charlotte Florida, just a couple hours west(ish) from Disney and she said it has been hotter than Hell there. She said the predicted high for Halloween (less than a week before you leave) is predicited to be 87 degrees. I would definately bring shorts but also a couple of pairs of jeans and a sweatshirt just in case. Have a great trip!

I just got back last night from Disney and it hot and humid. The temp during the day was 89 and on Sunday night during MNSSHP at midnight it was 68. Based on my experinece I would take 1 pair of jeans and the rest shorts. And one jacket also.
