Leaving "important" luggage with Bell Services?

(I apologize, I'm sure this has been asked a gazillion times but I couldn't find it in my search.)

We're transferring from one resort to another. We'll be doing this early in the day.

I don't have a problem leaving our luggage with clothes with Bell Services to hold on to until our room is available but what about expensive stuff?

My wife has to take her work laptop and I'll have some cameras/camcorders. Each will be in a backpack.

Should we leave these with the resort?

If not, what can we do with them? We don't want to walk around the parks with them. Are there lockers somewhere big enough? (that day is Magic Kingdom)

I would have no problems leaving these items with Bell Services. I have done it many times in the past at hotels all over the country with no problems. My laptop was clearly in a laptop bag, and not stashed away in a backpack, and I've never had a problem. Don't forget that Disney caters to a large volume of conventioneers who all come with laptops and expensive electronics equipment. If these things went missing all the time, they would have a real issue on their hands. Hope this helps ease your mind. Have a wonderful trip!

We always go to the hotel and give the lap top to concierge.
They have a special room to store value things.

Whenever we have a laptop or camcorder with us, I ask the bell services attendant to put them in lockup. I've had to go back into the storage area to add or retrieve something on several occasions, and have always seen my valuables locked in a cage. They were in their own locked section of a larger cage.

So, I don't have any problem with leaving our more valuable items with bell services. Much easier than lugging them around until our room is ready!

Good luck, and have a great trip! :sunny:

Never had had a problem - I trust them!

If bell services knows what's in your cases, they will lock them into a cage so that they are not easily available to anyone without a key.

If your cameras are going to be in a backpack and not obviously in camera cases then be sure to ask the bell services CM to put them in "the cage."

Your claim check should indicate how many bags you have and how many are in "the cage."

We always travel with my DH's laptop, usually stay at POP and have never had a problem. :)

We didn't have a problem last year. My husband took his work laptop. He just told them what was in there and to lock it up.

Is there a charge to put items in the lock up? Also is this easy to retrieve such as going up to the front desk that it would be taken care of right away.

They have a special room to store value things.

1) Take special items to Front Desk or Concierge.
2) They will help you put it into a safety box (just like at a bank).
3) There is no special room that is used for storage.
4) Do not leave valuables with Bell Services.
5) Some luggage rooms have a cage for luggage storage, but it is not secure.
6) Almost anyone in Front Desk, Concierge, Back Room, Bellmen has access.
7) Plus, the luggage rooms are seldom locked.

I know it's Disney and all and for the most part you can trust everyone there but just food for thought. Last time I was down there the Bell service (POFQ) had about 50 bags outside on the sidewalk BEHIND THEIR BUILDING with nobody watching. Now I'm from NY so the first thing I think is "anyone could walk away with anything they wanted from here." I'm sure it's 99% safe but that 1% always bothers me. Anything you need find a place for it

RustyScupper - I have to ask, what resorts have you been able to have things locked up like a bank box? I have asked at both the front desk and concierge, and was either directed to Bell Services, or my things were taken and then put in the same cage that Bell Services uses!

tami82 - there is no charge to have things locked up. Whenever we've had something locked in the cage, we have simply requested bell services for access, and they took us right back to the storage area.

If I had those type items, I would just get a cab to the next resort. That way the things would only be sitting in one storage area, vs two. And you may be able to get right into the room at the next resort. If not, you can have the valuables locked up until you can get into the room.
If you have Disney move your stuff, it will sit at that first resort for hours, then get moved to the next resort, where it will again be left sitting, and who knows where that will be.
I would just take a cab and have the stuff locked up at the next resort.
