Hello all! I am planning our third April roadtrip and am going over East break this year (we have normally gone the whole week before Easter).

I am looking for the best time to leave southern RI to avoid any Hartford and NYC traffic. I also hope to make it to GA before stopping for the night. Cana anyone suggest a decent, cheap hotel along 95 in GA?

Super 8 in Savannah GA. Rooms very cheap during the week, more expensive on weekends. Ask for a non-pet room. It is at the Route 204 exit. Lots of other hotels here also.

We've done the drive from Plymouth, MA to WDW 6 times now. I'm not sure its possible to leave your area early enough to miss any Hartford and NYC traffic. Figure its 2 hours to NYC (about 150 miles from the RI border) and you would want to be through the city before 6 am, perhaps earlier. That would require leaving home about 4 am at the latest.

As far as making it to GA, you're looking at ~960 miles. Figuring in stops for gas and food, you'll average 50 so its a long 19 hour day. The next day its about 5 hours from the Savannah area to WDW.

There are lots of good, brand-name hotels along the I-95 stretch. I'd take one of them over the no-name brands. We're partial to Fairfield Inn.

Gas prices are best in NJ (avoid getting gas in CT or NY) and in VA & NC. Hope you have an ezpass transponder. :car:
