We are leaving tomorrow, kind of a thrown together vacation at WDW, for the first time. We will be taking ds4 and ds7 and I would like to take them to a character meal. I tried CM but I guess you know how that played out this close to departure. Can anyone give me a suggestion of a place that we possibly get into this late. We will be there until the 22nd, so if we can get just one good character meal in (preferably dinner) I think they would be happy. Aprreciate ANY info.

Keeping in mind that this is a holiday week..............

I don't know of any specific character meals that would be available, but go to guest services each morning when you get to the park. We've had pretty good luck getting reservations that way, even when it's been crowded. You may have to eat at an off time, like mid-morning or mid-afternoon or a very early dinner.

Good luck!

I am sorry but I have to have a pessimistic outlook on this one. ..next week is one of the busiest weeks for Disney..The parks will be at maximum capacity with long lines and very busy restaurants...you can certainly try but do not let it ruin your trip if you can not get a character dining ;)

If you can do a breakfast try Cape May at the Beach Club, it is fantastic.

What about Tusker House at AK, I think dinner is a character meal. I would just call for any and every character meal at this point.

Sometimes if you walk up to the podium right when a character meal starts, they can squeeze you in. We've done this a few times in the past at Crystal Palace for lunch. Let's see......try Cape May breakfast at Beach Club.....we also normally have an easy time getting in at 1900 Park Fare but I'm not sure if your 2 sons would love that one. I'd call Disney Dining and try for any character meal at all -- Ohana at Poly.....Garden Grill in Epcot......Tusker House in AK......Liberty Tree in MK.

Liberty tree Tavern is a good character dinner and we really enjoyed the food! If you cannot get any advanced reservations before your trip, try to call while you're there. Not guaranteed, but we were actually able to get in to LTT the day after we called- and this was in busy June. Good luck to you!

I read somewhere that the Swan or Dolphin has a character meal (breakfast I think) that doesn't take reservations.

Can anyone help there? I'll never find the thread!

(This isn't the thread I meant, but may get you on the right track: http://www.swandolphin.com/feedback/dining.html)

Or try the Akerhaus restaurant in Norway (Epcot.) SInce breakfast serves "American" food, I bet they sell out fast. But you may have some luck with some later times.

Good luck!!

You will get all sorts of great suggestions here. :thumbsup2 Yet my advice? Call Disney Dining!

Obviously just keep calling and be flexible. The ones with the most openings will probably be Cape May Bfast or Garden Grill at Epcot. I've never been to the cape may one so i can't say how it is. Garden Grill had good character interaction but I HATED the food (that being said- i know lots of people on here love it)

I would call every morning and see if something gets cancelled. Just keep trying.

We were there at the end of April but we got into Chef Mickey at 7:15am by just trying so we cancelled our breakfast for later in the week.

Garden Grill in Epcot would be a good one to try.
