Leaving during MK Parade

I wanted to see if anyone out there had experience leaving MK during the Share a Dream parade. We're going to arrive on Sunday, and after checking in POR, we're going to MK. However, we wanted to leave MK and head to MGM for dinner and then Fantasmic.

I know we can move through the stores on Mainstreet during the parade. But, is there a problem leaving the park?

I was thinking of heading through the stores on the East side (not the Emporium side), and then going out on the sidewalks in front of Tony's. I know that people will be lined up on the curb watching the parade there, but does everybody think I'll be able to get my family through there, and then out the gate (by the stroller rental)?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

Just a thought, you might want to consider taking the train. That way you can completely avoid Main Street. That said you should be able to get through, especially walking through the stores, just allow plenty of time.

But I think I was on the wrong side. I was on the side of Town Hall, and I wanted to get to my fast pass at Space Mountain. I had to wait until the parade was over. Overall, the parades are pretty short though.
It sounds like you have the right plan. If you aren't staying for the parade, why not leave about 10 minutes before the parade begins? That way, people are all lined up but you can still get through everywhere.
Good luck, have a great time!

You can probably get thru the store route--but it won't be any fun and by the time you reach the gate you'll be talking to yourself.

We just exited Magic Kingdom last night during the Spectro parade with very little problem going the route you have planned. In our experience the 3pm parade is not near as crowded and we have exited during it as well a couple times over the years. Once we made the same Emporium side mistake as already posted. We had a single path on the sidewalk last night and followed the flow. The only thing making it hard was the rain and trying to have everyone stay together/keep up without slipping. Since we have a double stroller going through the shops is too hard to manuever for us.
