Leaving Disney, but not to Airport

Hi

What a great forum!

My family is taking the Magical Express from the Orlando airport to Port Orleans. But when we leave, a few days later, we're going to spend the last night at a hotel near the airport. The day before our flight we'll probably check out of our room, leave the bags at the front desk, and grab them after spending a few hours at a park. Then we need a way to get to the hotel near the airport.

Can anyone suggest the best way to get there? I have a family of 6, including a 1 year old.

If your airport hotel has a shuttle to/from the airport you can still use DME to get to the airport. As long is is within your WDW reservation doesn't matter if your flying that day or not.

If you aiport hotel doesn't have a shuttle to/from the airport you can use a town car service or a taxi.

Yep. Give DME a flight 3 hours after you want to leave WDW. Take DME to the airport and then call for the hotels shuttle to come get you. This will only work if you are going to MCO the same day you check out of your resort. You are entitled one trip TO WDW and one trip back to MCO, just can't be before your reservations starts or after it ends (meaning a day or more later).

Having done research a year ago at that time the last flights out of Orlando are between 9 and 10. Meaning DME will want you on a bus around 6 or so

After Magical Express drops you at the airport it's only a short ride to the hotel and therefore not too expensive.

We had the same situation last year and they advised us to just make the reservation 3 hours before the last flight and then when we arrived at the airport on our inbound flight, change the reservation when we checked in at DME for our ride to the resort. They can manually change the return then, but can't do it in advance when booking the reservation. It worked.

No problem on not being able to stay until park close... my kids are little, and we have a breakfast with one of the characters at 7AM... NO WAY we'll still be around late. I want to leave the park around 3 PM or so, so heading to the airport first sounds like a great idea.
