Leaving and re-entering the parks

It's been years since I've been to WDW. You used to get a stamp on the hand to get back into the park if you left. How does it work now? We are staying off property, but would like to go to one of the resorts for lunch or dinner.

No more stamps. You just leave and come back with the same ticket you had used. The system knows that you had already been there, or if you are park hopping, had been at a different park. You do get your fingers scanned in the machines as you enter.

You are allowed re-entry into the same park you visited earlier in the day. If you plan on hopping to a different park than you visited earlier in the day, you will need the park hopper option on your pass. They no longer use the hand-stamp.

As others have said, there is no longer a hand stamp required. You will simply re-insert your ticket at the turnstyle while placing your fingers in the biometric finger scanning device. The system is all computerized now. The computer will recognize your ticket related to your finger size. It will identify that you were in that park earlier in the day and allow re-entry. If you want to go to another park later in the day, you will need the Park Hopper option. Again the computer keeps track of where you have been and when.

I miss the handstamp-I liked how it glowed on some of the rides, we would spend ages trying to work out what it was.
