we have a trip booked for this upcoming November, we booked our flight and resort already, we found out yesterday that we're expecting and my due date is about 5 days before we're supposed to be leaving, we were able to switch our resort dates to mid December, our plane tickets are non refundable so we had no other choice but to push it back to a later date, and pay a penalty fee of changing the flight, baby will be a month old or so, I'm leaning towards leaving him/her with my mom during the trip, but I feel so guilty knowing I'll leave a tiny baby behind :(

Based on your profile picture you already have 2 kids, so you know how much work a one month old is. Can you really expect your mom to watch your newborn? Will you even be healed enough to go?

I would not take a newborn to WDW during flu season. I know others do it, but it is too risky for me. I would take the loss on the plane tickets and consider it a lesson learned on getting trip insurance.

First, congratulations! You seem to be counting on the baby being on time. It could be two weeks late and then what? You also should consider how you will feel especially since you never know if you need a c-section. I would plan for next year.

Congratulations!!! We had our 2014 trip all planned and ready to go when we found out we were expecting. We went anyway, but I was only 20 weeks. I promise to never do Disney pregnant again, lol.

That being said, our next trip after that, DS was 3 months old and it was a lot easier than I expected it to be. We have 3 kids as well, however, I'm not sure I would have brought him at 1 month old. I was still recovering from my c-section and I also wanted him to have his 1st set of vaccinations prior to traveling. Just my preference. :)

Like others I'd probably avoid flu season and wait until he had vaccinations but Disney is totally doable with a baby. We just got back from a trip with our 9 month old and I was shocked at how great she did: rolled in the stroller or the Ergo, napped when she needed it and totally went with the flow regarding bedtimes and fireworks. If you can push out to about 6 months old, I say go for it!

If you could push it until the little one is about 3 or 4 months old, I'd do that. Mind you, I took mine everywhere I went from about a week old but I had an easy pregnancy and a healthy big boy so it wasn't a problem.

I would take the baby with you. I took 2 children to WDW that were just a month old. DS was 5 weeks old and DD2 was 4 weeks old. DD2 was the easiest because I knew what to expect after having 2 other children. My body healed much quicker and by 4 weeks I was fine at WDW.

Biggest thing is to keep washing your hands, keep hand sanitizer ready. I carried my babies so they slept most of the time. If you are nursing you can either use the baby care centers or just find a quiet spot to nurse. Without the baby there you will have to pump or let your milk dry up. Pumping can be cumbersome as you will want to go to the baby care center to do that.

People aren't touching your newborn while you are at WDW, so as long as you keep your hands clean I wouldn't worry. I did use disposable changing table covers on the changing tables as other people touch those. And I took our car seat which went into every restaurant with us, I never had an issue with that request either.

Take the baby, the pictures will be priceless with your whole family being there. Take your time and enjoy the trip. Don't try to do everything. I could never picture not taking one of my children no matter how young they were. And at that young I wouldn't want them out of my sight for that long.

Go and enjoy your family.

If you would be comfortable taking a baby anywhere out of the house at that age, Disney world will be fine. Our baby is due in July, we are taking the kids in September or October. She will be a little older than yours, but I would be more worried about leaving her miles away than bringing her with me. Maybe consider asking your mom to join you, that way you have an extra set of hands to help with the other kids, and have the option to leave baby at the hotel with her, or stay with the baby while she helps with the kids in the park

Forget about the baby -- I wouldn't be ready! Physically I would not be healed and ready to walk so much. Agree with the folks re the baby's age too -- I'd probably push until when the baby is older. If you still want to do that, I'd look to bring your mom with you to help, so she can hang with the baby or you can and she can help with the kids.

CONGRATULATIONS! A month would be too soon for me (but then I've had C-sections). I'd take a 2 month + to WDW, though. Definitely couldn't leave a newborn behind.

Congrats, I would not leave a baby that young. I would either take the baby (although I wouldn't be healed enough by that time) or push it back a month or two to give yourself more time. Or cancel. Or possibly reschedule and go very soon before you're too far along.

First off, congrats!! Seems like you've already made a decision and Idk what I would have done, pushing the trip back is a very good choice though and glad you were able to do it.

Not the same but on our last trip our youngest was 13 months and everyone (including DH) said we should leave her because they didn't think she'd be up for the long days/nights we'd be spending at the parks, not to mention the 19hr drive we'd have to make to and from FL. I didn't feel right leaving her though so we took her in the end and, I'm so happy to say, she did absolutely perfect. She never got fussy and she seemed to really enjoy herself. Of course every child is different, but I think even if she hadnt done as well as she did, it would have bothered me more leaving her than having to deal with meltdowns or a fussy baby. I would have spent most of my time calling and wondering about her, but that may very well be just me LOL

GL and once again congrats!!

Thank you for the replies, we purchased the airline tickets 5 days ago, so we're still able to add travel insurance to our tickets, we won't be getting a full refund, but partial refund is better than absolutely nothing

I feel for you. That's gotta be exciting and disappointing all at the same time. I'm sorry the trip won't happen right now, but I'm excited for you regarding the new baby. :)

I wouldn't bring a baby that young just for the simple facts that there vaccinations won't be activated by that time. Better to be safe than sorry.
