We talked a bit about this in Chat and I said I would post this picture.

We are on the top row - the last three pictures.

James and Emma, then Chris and I, followed by Katie and Ian.

This was taken January 2nd 2000 at about 9.30pm in the evening and is on the very front Obelisk/Plinth as you enter Epcot on the right hand side.

That's nice,Jan.
I've always thought this was another Disney Merchandising Scam dreamt up to part unsuspecting fans with their cash. Changed me mind now I've seen you and Chris- it's a good picture isn't it?

We'll make a point of goi to see 'you' in March so it's been worth it hasn't it. Not sayin V'll get one but might be a nice idea now.

The piccys look good, several of our friends have them.
Its just the Obelisk/Plinth's really make me feel the place looks like a graveyard.

I was a bit sceptical at first too Dave but when we were there and in the momentum of "The Millennium" it just seemed appropriate! The kids really wanted to do it which I thought was nice - their thinking was that we would probably not all get to go again together, so for at least that as long as the Granite Sculptures (their official name!) are in place, we will always be together at WDW.

I was surprised that it wasn't a "Hard Sell" - we literally had to ask to find out about it. The one complaint I would have (if any) is that you are limited to two people per tile. I think it would have been nice to be able to have the whole family together, as I am sure many other families would have - this is where the "merchandising scam" theory comes in!

Having said all that I am really pleased that we did it when we did and that I was able to see it during our holiday as when Chris and I were there last year (when we met up with you and Val) we saved Epcot as our last day didnt we - and then we had that awful mini hurricane which kept us in our room and we never got to Epcot at all!!!

It was a very Disney moment when I saw them - Shirley will vouch for that, hence the dreadful picture (not very central and a thumb in view!) LOL

....... it was definitely worth it just for the feelings Jan obviously had when she saw it - she was really "Disneyed" :) :)

Oh for goodness sake JW! You take that high tech all singing and dancing camera out to WDW with you and we get a close up of your thumb

They look great :D We thought of getting a wedding brick - but I think they finished doing them now :(

I think they are still available Kaylee - they were still advertising them when Shirley and I was there with all the instructions on how to get one.

If you want to get one I hope you are able because it really was lovely to see it again :D

oops - Just read this again Kaylee and I think I misunderstood you - were you talking about a Brick at MK? I mistook you for meaning a Tile at Leave a Legacy! Doh!

I was thinking some more about the Granite Sculptures last night and really - when you look at it, they are quite futuristic in their appearance, so are quite in place with their location.

Here is a picture I took at the entrance - what do you think?

And by the way Shirley - I didnt like to say, but as you make no bones about having a dig at me with my photographic skills - I would like to point out to everyone that the Picture that Miss Shirley took of me standing by our Leave a Legacy Photo was a complete blank! Sky was there - one or two clouds even, but where was I??? In heaven I think! LOL LOL

:o I did warn you I'm not good with fancy cameras :o You should have let me use my disposable ;) ..... perhaps we should go back and try taking the photo again :) ?

I didn't expect to like "The Granite Sculptures" , but they do look rather futuristic, and since they play the Millennium music in that area, the feel good factor comes over me :D

Never mind.. I thought the wedding bricks were sold out, it was between Grand Floridian and the Wedding Pavillion:(

We did look at the Leave a Legacy and couldn't quite convince DH.

Janice

We did the Leave a Legacy on our visit in March 2000, and had a look at them last year and it was really quite emotional, and it makes me happy to think that although I cannot be at WDW all the time a little bit of me is.

My nephew and his Dad went to WDW at the beginning of June and I gave him the instructions of where our tile was and he thought it looked really good.

They do look a little strange but they seem to fit in with the image of Epcot.
