Least Expensive Flu Shot?

mine are getting their flu mist vaccine free through the school system. This is the 1st time they have ever done this in our county. Mine havent had a flu shot in years prior since they are healthy and have no resp. issues or immunosuppresion..This past Feb they both were very sick with Influenza A and that was the deciding factor for me to have them get it this year. If I wanted to go thru my pediatrician I would have to pay my $20 copay and 10% of the vaccine. They make it a office visit so Im happy I do not have to go that route.. Mine will not be getting the swine vaccine.

We are getting our flu shots through Maxim. We have Aetna insurance and they will cover the shot 100% if we get it through Maxim. They will give shots to anyone age 9 and over. I don't know if they are in all areas of the country, but their website to find a clinic is:

Children uder the age of 3 must get a series of 2 shots, so talk to your ped.

We have always been told the first year a child gets the flu shot, it is a series of 2. Any subsequent times only the single dose is required.

My children are getting their flu shots at Walgreens (I called our local one, they will give them to children). We have a high deductible plan also. I called our pediatrician's office, the shot is $13 but they charge an additional $24 to administer it.

Wow thats a shame $37.00 for a flu shot. Thats horrible. Thank goodness, my kids are covered by insurance and DH and I get them free at work.

I concur with other posters re: the health department, and that it could very well be a 2-part shot due to your child's age. The fee is minimal and you're not required to pay it if you're unable to do so. I'm not so sure you're going to find CVS or Walgreen's doing the shots for that age group, but definitely possible for other ages.

I know that Walgreen's also has a program this year to help people pay for their flu shots who were unable to pay.

wow i feel so lucky, both me and my kids got the shot administered by the pediatrician today, no office charge, no shot charge for me ( i do go to a np at the office) or the kids. i complain alot about the nyc doe but i guess my insurance is pretty good.

Ok so I spoke with a different woman. She said if I came during special hours, the shot was $40 and we didn't see a doctor.

Health department - on hold then cut off, I'll try again tomorrow.

$40 isn't the end of the world but the clinic hours are only in the morning while I am at work.

Dang wish our health deparment were so innexpensive. I called and was quoted $35 at the health department clinics in our area and no discount for those not able to pay. After calling around it is least expensive at our Wal-greens for $24.95.
