Leapster 2 problems

Christmas Eve we put the batteries in and it would not work. This was one of our main gifts--looked up online and others had the same problem. Can I return this to the store for a new one or do I have to send back to company. I have all packaging---this was brand new just out of the box. I bought it in November when I got a good deal on it. It really stinks since I got DS 5 games to go with it and now it won't work.

We tried every trick to get it working that was mentioned online and nothing worked. There is a glitch in the system itself. TIA
 
Take it back to the store. We got dd6 one for Christmas and it worked great for a few hours - then it started jamming up and wouldn't select what she was choosing. We tried calibrating it but that didn't help. Took it back the next day and got a new one and so far so good.
 

We did have a similair problem with our original Leapster, but it was after a few months of use. I contacted Leap Frog and they actually replaced it for me free of charge...make sure you register your product with Leap Frog!!
 
We had a problem with our Leapster and as long as you have the receipt and it has not been longer than 90 days you simply call Leapster and they will send a replacement. They will get you to email a picture of your Leapster with a code (they give you) printed in permanent marker on the front of it. On the website it said you do not return it to store, you call them.
 
As long as you have your receipt, most likely you can just swap it out at the store even though you bought it in November. I bought the Tag Reading system at Toys R US in November for DD for Christmas. When we took it out of the box, the battery compartment was broken. DH took it to Toys R Us tonight and they exchanged it for a new one with no problems. The only issue you might have, is if the store you bought it from is out of Leapster 2s.
