Some of the crowd calendars show low but some show high, why would leap day (which is on a Monday) draw a bigger crowd?

I believe the last leap day MK was open 24 hours. Possibly there is anticipation of a repeat next year. It was well marketed and attendance was relatively high, as far as I recall.

the last leap day was their first 24 hour event ever held. original crowd levels were around a 4 based upon the time of the year. as the day progressed it was adjusted to an 8

Well this is interesting I wonder if they would do it again...my husband would think it was crazy but I so would want to go!

Only MK was open 24 hours and it was a little crazy later in the night when most of the locals got off of school and work. Around 1am things slowed down though. I was surprised I made it the whole 24 hrs, minus the 45 minute nap I took on a bench near the wishing well by the castle (so quiet over there!!)

Was just calling to make a DVC reservation for the 27th of Feb through the 2th of March, and the person I talked with said there are no plans for a 24 hour event at MK as of yet, and may not be at all since nothing has been has been announced yet. I booked anyway, just in case.

I wonder if they will just stick with the 24 hour summer kickoffs as it means they get a bigger bang for their buck having some many more people off for the memorial day weekend.

We're planning on Epcot that day as well. Part of me hopes they don't do it so that there aren't extra people due to the event, however it might pull people from the other parks and we aren't planning on MK that day anyway. The other part hopes they do it and then I would probably plan on hopping over at some point just to be there. We don't have the luxury of planning spur of the moment trips for special events like that so it would be cool to be there. Maybe DH and I would put the kids to bed and leave the grandparents with them and head over to do a little late night riding!

If they do a 24 hour event its not actually a bad thing if you have a park hopper. For the one last May, MK was very reasonable from 6-10Am, if you started at MK early, then took off to Epcot, you could actually make the best of it and go back again after Epcot closed. There were lots of people who dumped into MK when the other parks closed, and you could definitely tell which partiers came from having drinks at Epcot. It wasn't a bad thing either, they were the ones who got everyone singing in Country Bears Jamboree at 2AM :)

That day Wishes was the busiest I have ever seen, and I have been there every holiday and race except for christmas eve and day. I was trapped in the hub for half an hour unable to move but a few feet due to people leaving and others arriving once the other parks closed. Everyone just slammed through where they could instead of walking on the right side going one direction, so it just turned into pandemonium and CM's were too overwhelmed to get it straightened out for awhile. I would guess they would have that sorted by now though! It was fun and interesting and I would go again. I would just forego fireworks. At some point the crowds will completely clear so good for rides. But I heard not until later at the more recent events, more like 3 now.

We'll be there the 27th thru 3/5 and hoping for 24 hours too as that's my birthday! I'll be '15'! :figment:

I did the one at DL in Anaheim, with my youngest daughter. She was 29 at the time...lol. It was absolute madness. The later it got...the higher the crowds. At one point, probably between 11p and 2a ...they closed the gates as park was at capacity. And there were still huge numbers of people waiting in the concourse between DL and Cali Adventure.... It was certainly time with my daughter that we both cherish the memories we made....but not sure if we want to repeat the adventure.
I do know that the crowds were way more than Disney anticipated, or planned for.
