For anyone that's been-how is the food quality? We've done the Three Broomsticks a few times, moreso for atmosphere than food. I feel that the food quality is subpar, and was hoping the new places might be better. Thanks!

We enjoyed breakfast there. It's not gourmet or anything- just simple food in a fun atmosphere. You feel like you are in the book/movie. Very well done!

We had a good experience there as well. Like glocon said, its not gourmet, but it was was good to very good. We had lunch there.... hubby had the chicken sandwich, I had the Toad in the Hole....and we enjoyed both entrees. Butterbeer and Otter's Fizzy Orange Juice were our drinks (both awesome). Good service, incredible theming. We would dine there again.

We ate at Three Broomsticks a few times before DA opened and really didn't like the food very much. However, we really like The Leaky Cauldron. I don't know if it's better than TB or if TB has improved in the past year. I love the Ploughman's Platter and the Otter's Fizzy Orange drink! The shepherd's pie is good, too.

I've had the chicken sandwich (my favorite dish there), fish and chips, bangers and mash and seafood pie. I enjoyed all except the pie. I like the food more at Leaky than Three Broomsticks. I'd say it's definitely with checking out.

Having eaten at both places I personally think that the food is better at the Leaky Cauldron than at the Three Broomsticks. I had the Cottage Pie both times I went LC last July and it was lovely! I would definitely recommend having that. Also I think that the atmosphere is better in LC as well. As someone previously mentioned, it feels more authentic to the movies/books in there.

Same! I've never liked the food at 3 broom, but quite enjoy it at Leaky. The chicken sandwich has been a hit with everyone in my family.

Personnaly I think the Leaky Cauldron is better then 3 Broomsticks. We have eaten at both many times. Leaky Cauldron seemed to have a better menu and is one of the best restaurants at US

Thanks for the help, everyone! I just didn't want to waste another vacation meal on "eh" food, if I could eat elsewhere. Will definitely have to try The Leaky Cauldron after all of these good reviews :D

We enjoyed the Leaky Caldron so much for dinner, that we went back and ate it again for lunch 2 days later. We got to try several different things on the menu, and all of it was delicious. I recommend ordering a "side" of scotch egg. My husband and I really wanted to try one, but ordered other meal items. For less the $2, you get a scotch egg, a generous portion of beet & apple "slaw" and horseradish sauce.

We didn't eat food in the Three Broomsticks, the menu seemed to "meh" to us. But we did enjoy a few beers in the Hogshead Pub attached. Check out the Corner Booth, next to the fake stairwell. You can hear people "upstairs" cooking, cleaning, and yelling! :)

Here's the section of my trip report about our meal at the Leaky Cauldron. We will be back!

Plan B: Leaky Cauldron

In my last installment, we had just been turned away from an empty Lombard’s Landing because we didn’t have a reservation.

Whatever!!!

We were right across the street from Diagon Alley. I wanted to eat at Leaky Cauldron and this was secretly my first choice for a meal on our arrival day. I explained to my family that it was the same set up as The Three Broomsticks. You order at a counter, and after you have your food, a house elf will help you find an open table.

Miraculously, my family agreed with my suggestion!

I love it when a plan comes together!!!

We ordered our meals-

We were seated near the restaurant’s namesake:

Ben and I shared the Ploughman’s Dinner- English Cheese, Crusty Bread, Field Green Salad, Roasted Tomatoes, Cornichon Pickles, Apple and Beet Salad, Branston Pickle and Scotch Eggs

Mark got the Bangers and Mash

Nate ordered the Fish and Chips

We had 2 Frozen Butterbeers and 1 Hot Butterbeer, and two cups of water.

The total for the meal, after applying a 10% AAA discount, was $60.34. I thought this was totally reasonable for a delicious and filling meal. We shared everything and it was all great. My favorites were the Scotch egg and the bangers and mash. The hot butterbeer was a BIG hit with Nate and me, but Mark and Ben still prefer the frozen.
