So, I am not so good at things like plumbing... this morning my shower faucet started to drip (the part you would use to fill the tub). It has gotten worse and worse as the day has gone on. It's is now a pretty steady stream. It is also hot water that is coming out. It is controlled by a single turn knob that you turn to the left and the further you get the hotter the water gets.

There is no local shut off for it as I thought I would just turn it off for now until I could figure out what to do.

Any ideas?

Sometimes these valves develop a 'memory' or weak spot around the normal closed position. Try exercising the handle a few times all the way cold then hot, and back to closed.

Eventually, (seems like now), you'll need to purchase a rebuild kit.

If you hire a plumber to do it, go ahead and have him install shut off valves on the cold and hot feeds.
