Leaf Peepers, please be careful!

I live in mid-eastern NH in the middle of mountain and foliage country. Yesterday we had numbers 3 and 4 tourists in our immediate area drown while trying to take foliage pictures! Getting that great shot is not worth dying! Number 2 was standing on a wet rock at the top of a waterfall (Sabbaday Falls for those who know the area) and fell, hit his head, and was found the next day a mile downstream. Number 3 dropped his camera, fell into the water trying to retrieve it, and number 4 fell in trying to help him. (This was on the Swift River.)

This doesn't even begin to include the broken legs, heart attacks, etc. that also happen regularly. One of our neighbors is a Forest Ranger so when we see him leaving at an odd hour we know something is up. It just seems to be more this year.

So please be careful.

also laying on the rocks at the top of a waterfall and taking pictures down isnt safe.... 14 stiches. Was so worth it

And running across Route 16 to get a better shot on the other side of the road is so not worth it if you run out in front of a car. Silly tourist almost got hit by me on my way home from grocery shopping!

I heard ya'll had a nor'easter that blew a lot of the leaves off the trees? I wish it hadn't happened for the tourist dollars you'll lose. Still, maybe it will make the perfect-photo-hunters go home.

Tragic accidents do happen. People get caught up in the moment and sometimes make poor decisions.
