since reading about the lead levels in vinyl lunch boxes :earseek: --- i confiscated my kids lunchboxes and sent them in with paper bags???

are you all testing your lunch boxes or buying new ones??? :confused3
what other kinds of lunch boxes are available??? the only ones by me are vinyl

and also if the vinyl lunch boxes are a problem --- what about the backpacks which are made of the material????

We got vinyl.

I did not confiscate my kids' lunchboxes. From reading the warning, there was a certain brand / character which was found to have problems. Sorry - I can't remember which one it was. Our lunchboxes are not that brand, so I did not feel the need to test them.

I'm glad you posted this. It sounded like something that needed to be snoped so I did:

After reading that I am concerned enough that I will probably just toss my 3-year-old's vinyl lunchbox and get him a cloth bag or a hard plastic lunchbox; he'll be happy to have a new one anyway. I don't feel like spending $5 on a lead testing kit when the lunchbox only cost $10 at Wal Mart to begin with.
It does appear that a LOT of vinyl lunchboxes (not just one brand or design) may be suspect, unfortunately.
