Exactly 6 months to the day logged in to make a reservation and they were booked for dinner. Perhaps a silver lining though because I booked lunch and used only 1 dining voucher (as opposed to 2 now for dinner). But can't understand how it can be booked 6 months out?

You can book 180 days out if you are staying on property. YOu must confirm your reservation number online if through a travel agent not associated with Disney and them you can book online or by phone. Hope that helps. Have a great trip and good food! Its easy to specify a specific location as well so for Le Cellier you can seach for that or narrow selection by park, time requested, reseraunt name, cuisine type (its the only Canadian restaurant) Hope that helps. Also if the vacation begins 180 days fom now the days beyond that that you are staying up to 9 days I believe (I could easly be wrong) can also be reserved beginning 180 days from your trip.

If someone has a longer stay booked than you, and their 180 mark is earlier, they can book before you... so folks staying for 10 days have an advantage over those staying 6 or 7 days, when it comes to making reservations.

Not sure if this is always the case, but 180 days ago we tried booking on line for our trip next week and it showed as busy every single dinner. I happened to call WDW-DINE for another issue and had them check, and it turned out there was a lot of great slots to accomodate a party of 8 (we got a 5:45 slot on Monday 7/18).

I think they were holding off on online reservations at the time because it was in the process of switching over to a 2 credit dinner, and they wanted to warn everyone verbally ... but whatever the reason, I was glad I made the call. If you haven't tried it, you might want to.

Great suggestion, I wish I would have thought of calling

What's worked for me is to schedule Le Cellier at the END of my trip-- the last night.

Fewer people have had access to that date.

Knock wood, it's worked so far. Here's hoping it works again for next year.
