Le Cellier too stuffy?

We were lucky enough to get a lunch reservation for Le Cellier for our trip in December. We have 4 y/o boy/girl twins (who will have *just* turned 5 y/o for the trip) and I'm worried that it might be a bit too stuffy for them (and maybe for me!).

Any thoughts? I know it's a sought after reservation, but just have a hard time picturing myself for a fancy lunch while in the midst of all the cool things around me!

Thanks,
Heather

We have eaten at LeCellier five times and have never found it stuffy at all. There are plenty of young children at the restaurant and the CM's are great with them.

Nope! Not stuffy at all! It's more a lodge theme--upscale rustic?--than fancy.

You will find a lot of families with young children dining there. Tables are a wee bit too close together for my taste, but it's a fun experience. :)

Don't miss it!!!!! And don't be affraid to take kids anywhere at Disney!! I think the people who get mad at kids being in certain places at Disney, need to remember that it IS Disney after all!!! You should not miss such a great meal because you have small children! We ate there with our 6 year old and it was the BEST MEAL EVER!! ENJOY!!

I too agree that there are plenty of kids there at Le Cellier and they are well taken care of with the cms.....go and have a good time....

I agree. No worries about stuffiness. It's loud and crowded, but certainly not stuffy. And there will be tons of kids there.

Have fun!

TOTALLY AGREE!

IMHO - my BEST MEAL EVER at WDW ! DS said the same ! Mushroom filet...both...
Pretzel bread - YUM!
Cheddar Cheese Soup - YUM!

I NEVER felt ANYTHING Stuffy about this meal...

I was concerned about Cali Grill because they were SO concerned with the attire...but need not have been concerned....

IT"S DISNEY! (As PP said).... Have a magical visit !

Mary

There is nothing stuffy or fancy about Le Cellier - we ate there 2 years ago with our son who was 3 yrs old at the time - no problem at all.

Its not fancy or stuffy at all and its not a typical steakhouse restaurant if thats what you are thinking. The steak is just okay though, nothing special, the other stuff is very good though - apps, soups, sides. Its just a restaurant. It's also a very dark restaurant.

I would use many words to describe Le'Cellier: Over-rated, loud, dark, and cramped, but not stuffy. While I think this place fails to even come close to it's internet hype on the DIS, it is a decent value for the money especially on the DDP, and while the food is far from great, it is good.

I think you will still have a decent time as long as you go in there with your expectations tempered, this way if it achieves it's lofty hype you'll be thrilled and if they don't you still will leave happy.:thumbsup2

We love LeCellier and our kids have been there 3 times, the first time they were 2 & 5 and they did great.

Enjoy!

Le Cellier means "the cellar". Eating here is like eating in a gol darn cave. No, it is not "stuffy" or "fancy".

YUMMY!!!!!

There is only one place I wouldn't take my kids (for atmosphere reasons, there are plenty of places I won't take them becuase they won't eat what's there hahaha) and that's Victoria and Albert's, even once they are 10 years old LOL!!

It is not stuffy at all and your children will be welcome there and not out of place at all. I was very worried about this when we went with our (then) 5 &6 year old kids but they were great, the server was great with them, and we had a great time.

I was also concerned this place may not live up to the 'hype' but for me, it was great. The filet was fabulous and the pretzel bread alone is enough to get me to beg for a reservation :rotfl: Top it off with an Ice Wine Martini and Maple Creme Brulee and I walk out of there a very happy momma :thumbsup2

Le Cellier is far from stuffy. It's loud and crowded. I think its a little better then Outback in terms of atmosphere and food about the same as Outback. You will have no problems with your children being there. I think the Brown Derby, while not stuffy, has much better food and atmosphere then Le Cellier. I'm always surprised the Brown Derby is available while Le Cellier is booked up.

This is probably due to the Brown Derby being a signature restaurant and Le'Cellier only being a 1TS on the DDP, which makes it a great value. However, there are rumors (topic on another thread) that Le'Cellier will become a signature restaurant. If that happens, in my opinion, Le'Cellier will not be as difficult to get into even if they revamp the menu.

It was DBF's favorite restaurant while we were there last and we ate at CG too. He said the steak was better there. It's always been a favorite of mine. I love the pretzel bread and cheddar cheese soup.
